Hello All,

After 6 years of being with my lovely girlfriend I've decide to POP the question. I thought what better time then on our upcoming cruise this summer? Now I want it to be big and I thought what better way then to do it during the Sail Away Party! Now planning it is the task at hand now? Will they let me do this? I would probably need to talk to the cruise director or something about getting this set up. Any ideas from any of you would be greatly appriciated! Thanks in advance for your help!

How about arranging a private meet with her favorite character?

or have them announce something as you walk on the ship. Example: Now boarding..Mr. Donald duck and hopefully the future Mrs. Donald DUck

I personally would not like to be proposed to during the sailaway party.

ETA: I am not sure that they would even let you do it at sailway. It is set show.

We were on a cruise a few years ago. The guest performer was a magician and the boyfriend/husband arranged to be pulled up on stage and was asked what was in his pockets and he pulled out the ring and purposed to his girlfriend/wife.

Idea? Do you know when you 1st board the announce your family name. Maybe you can work out something then. "Welcoming the soon to be Mr and Mrs. Smith." The get down on one knee and purpose.

Here's a clip from Youtube to give you an idea of what they do.

How about doing it at a nice, romantic dinner in Palo or Remy instead? I'm sure the staff there will be happy to help with the special occasion.

Presumably if she's going on a cruise with you and you've been together for six years, she's going to say "yes". :flower3:

However...

From what little I actually know about women (and that's after 10 years of marriage) is that as good an idea as we men might think a public proposal is (e.g. at the SailAway Party, or on the jumbotron at halftime of a sporting event) most (many? some?) women have dreamed about how they want to be proposed to from the time they were a little girl, and having it happen in front of an audience is not how they saw it happening.

I second the idea of Palo or Remy, or even on deck during a late night romantic moonlit stroll.

Another idea would be during one of the princess meets to wait in line with her and say you want a picture of "your princess with a princess." If there is a way to get a message to the person who is playing the princess, perhaps have her ask your girlfriend "Is this your price charming?" And then you can get down on your knee.
I would think sailaway party would be too crowded and the announcement-what if she isn't paying attention to the announcement?
Palo or Remy would be nice, especially if your GF is more low key.
Congrats on your decision. I'm sure however you do it, it will be special to her because it is YOU.

One more idea. If you are on the Western Fantasy Pirate night is night 4. Book Palo that night and there is a deck right outside Palo that you can see the fireworks from. Propose there.. Keep us informed and let us know what you did. We want pictures :) :0 :)

Well i would want it on stage but from other posters it doesn't seem like that would be possible?? Who would i contact to find out tho. I want this to be something that she never forgets. (even tho I know no matter what she'll never forget!)

If you want it on stage, the interactive shows is probably your best option. I'm not sure if the actors, etc are union on cruises, so the actual stage shows may be off limits. If you want something during a STAGE SHOW, then I'd ask about contacting a stage manager for the ship you are on. You may be able to call CS and get the name/number of them or may be able to get a message to them. I think your best bet will be to actually plan out several scenarios and then call DCL and see if they can work with you to make them happen. Good luck!

Remy!!!

Not only is it romantic, beautiful, secluded, and quiet, but the staff will treat absolutely treat her like a princess.

This is so sweet! What about having an airplane fly a banner near the ship when you're leaving port? I have no idea how expensive that owuld be, but just a thought :woohoo:

Palo or Remy - Funnelvision would be a dumb idea to me... Specially if she says NO.

No unions on the ships. Its one of the reasons that the lines use small foreign countries to register the ships in.

Call DCL shoreside and see if they can get one of the CDs to email you. They may have some ideas of their own if your goal is to get on one of the stages.

I love the idea of doing it during a photo session. The entire thing will be captured by the photographer. Every emotion. Will make fabulous engagement photos.

As some have stated, talk with the cruise director or asst. cruise director once on board the ship.

Our son proposed to his girlfriend last June on the fantasy. He took her up on deck at sunset and gOt down on one knee. Then they met the families (we were all on the cruise) in Oolala and we had a champagne party (arranged ahead of time). It was great!
