Target 5% back--does it work with Disney gift cards?

Holy moly, I hadn't even thought of this. I just got a 5% prescription one in the mail...will hold onto it and use them together to buy cards to pay this sucker off. wow.

Can you use DGCs to pay off cruises? If I normally use MouseFanTravel, can I use DGCs to pay balances?

I just wanted everyone to know; while I have had no trouble paying with multiple giftcards for my resort reservation. They are not letting me use it for tickets on the phone. I tried several different cms and no one would take more that 2 giftcards for park tickets/ annual passes. I was just told you could do it at the gate. Oh, well....

Just keep in mind that you can only redeem 2 gift cards at a time on the phone. I ran into this last year and had to drive 90 minutes to a Disney store to buy my park tickets with the gift cards.

I used 36 gift cards I bought at Target (10% off - 5% Red Card; 5% pharmacy reward) to pay for our Disney trip over the phone. When I first got the agent, I asked very nicely if I could use a lot of gift cards to pay for our trip. She laughed and said absolutely - her record was 50+ gift cards with someone.

I'd recommend being ready to go when you get an agent - have all the gift cards sitting there, ready to go - if they're the kind where you scratch the stuff off the back, have that done before you call!

Also used my Disney Visa Rewards points we had saved on the same call. Not a problem.

At WDW, I used a few more cards to pay my balance on the room (things we had charged to the room) - again, bought from Target.

I just saw these at Target last weekend, and thought...hmm, I wonder if I can use those... so thankful for this board!:cool1:

If you use all of these gift cards what happens if you need to cancel your trip?:confused3

So, let me understand this :) In my case, I have a package (rm and tx), but I'm going to add dining after my 45 day mark, as well as possibly another person, can I use the gc's to pay for the stuff I do after 45 days as well? I'm getting all giddy thinking of how much I can save :dance3:

Okay you have my attention now, I kept seeing these Red Card post but never read them. :surfweb:

So I have a couple of questions, 1. Do you prefer the Debit Card or the Charge Card? I don't know how I feel about them having my bank info, I know I'm weird. 2. It says on the rules the 5% is not valid for Target gift cards or prepaid cards, does that not mean gift cards? :confused3

Also if anyone doesn't like them chime in please.

Disney gift cards are considered entertainment, so they are eligible for the discount.

Yes. Just call in to make your changes, and when they are ready to take your payment, put it on the gift cards.

Another question can one use them at the Disney restaurants, table service and counter service?

Yes, with a few exceptions - for example, many of the restaurants at DTD which are not owned or run by Disney won't take them. All of the merchandise locations in the parks which can take credit cards can take the gift cards as well; so can the Disney shops in DTD and the resort shops.

I bought $1400 total so far(in $50 cards) and got my 5% off! :) I bought $900 a few days ago and it was $855 total! :) :) :)

I have had the Debit card for a few months and I LOVE it - never had a single problem..and I always save 5% on everything, including the Disney Gift Cards - in fact we are also a member of the Pharmacy rewards program. After filling 5 prescriptions they send you a 5% off shopping pass for 1 day. You CAN combine it with the 5% Red Card savings - so I will be getting 10% off my Disney Cards. :) Will be getting enough to cover our Dining Plan.

Another tip is to Like the Target Facebook page because they sometimes post exclusive links to coupons that you can use. And also pay attention to some products in the store that offer gift cards with purchase.
I've had times where I've printed off coupons for $10.00 off a $50.00+ purchase, used another $5.00 gift card from a previous purchase AND used my Target debit card for another 5% off. And if they only offer $10.00 off your next purchase of $50.00 or more, buy your gift cards in the Electronics dept, get your coupon, then go buy more at the front register!

Love, love, love my Target Red Card, I have had mine for 2 years and use it frequently. I have the debit card, you establish a PIN and usually in 2 days or so it is debited from my bank account. I always get my family's Rx filled there, the 5% + 5% pharmacy rewards are really cool. I have been "collecting" Disney gift cards for a while now to use on our upcoming trip.

I would imagine buying a discounted target gift card online would work as well. Not much of a difference but if you can find a $500 gift card for example at 6-8% off on say eBay, you can grab 10 $50 Disney cards in store.

I paid for my last Disney vacation with gift cards at 5% from target. I've done some of my July trip already too. They're great for dining and souvenirs too. It just takes time to pay your balance on disney's website with them since you can only do $50 at a time. I've had the red card for years (debit version) and it's wonderful. They send you coupons in the mail all the time too. I use it for groceries....ends up cheaper than walmart. I highly suggest getting one.
