Marvel in the parks and new hotels

I was in disney world this past summer and was talking to one of the disney bus drivers. He had said that due to the purchase of marvel by disney they were planning to implement that into the parks soon and mainly at DHS. Has any one else heard of things like this?
Also, for a long time now I've heard of a new DVC hotel coming but where? Many have said that they were going to finally demolish River country due the ugly look it has now and make it into a beautiful new DVC hotel. I think this would be a great idea and hope it happens. I hate that old fun places like river country are just left there looking horrible. They need to do something with places like these and fast.

~I would love to have Marvel in the parks -- but, based on what I've heard, it's not likely to ever happen! :( This is the first time I've heard about another DVC. I guess it makes sense to convert River Country into something special. :goodvibes

There has been talk about Marvel coming to disney on and off. Most people on other boards don't believe it will happen. I don't know if it will or not but my family would be extremely happy if it did. My children are still enjoying disney but always want to go to Universal for Marvel. We haven't gone yet though. I like going to disney and not having to go off property. Adding Marvel would help with that. :)

It's my understanding, because of earlier contracts established with Universal for IoA, Disney can't use any Marvel characters "east of the Mississippi". That means we'll probably see something in California but never (at least for a LONG time) at WDW.

I'd like it too.:(

That's correct. Because of the old contract with universal, there will be no marvel in the wdw parks. However, there was a loophole that allowed disney to theme a monorail with the Avengers (monorails aren't technically in the parks).
Right now I believe that Disney is still making money off of marvel with all of the merchandise sold at Universal. It would just be too much of a price tag for disney to buy the marvel parks rights from universal and then build attractions as well.
Maybe universal will forfeit the rights someday but probably not soon.

Take the off property trip to Universal; if you want to see strategically well spent money on a revamping of two parks, you will see it there! Universal also has City Walk which is great with some really good restaurants and one of the best in-park casual restaurants, Mythos.

Okay the disney transportation driver was just giving us some information that I thought was interesting.

But has anyone heard about river country getting demolished and a new hotel going up, has anyone heard of a new hotel coming at all, and or anything else that could happen to river country it's such a shame seeing it sit there and rot.

Marvel Land is coming to Hong Kong Disney Land !

Sort of surprised Star Wars wasnt announced first though

Forgot about this but yes there was some plans filed, utilities maybe moved, stakes in the ground and I think a building moved around the area of the old River Country. Even some bulldozers moving around. This was a big thread in the camping forum maybe a year or so ago. (i'll try to look for it)*

They even floated a real trial balloon that showed them how the sight lines may look.

The rumor is they decided to do the GF DVC right now or wait or something, not quite sure.

Please don't read any of this and think River Country is coming back. They may add an enhanced pool area like storm along bay but I would say nothing of real consequence from RC will be reused.

i really think that would be a wonderful place for a new dvc.:cool1:

something else similar to storm a long bay would be fantastic and loved by everyone. :beach: that is such an unusual pool and not accessible to many people. it is interesting to just walk around the pool area. the pool designers did a great job, but i bet it is hard to keep cleaned. i have never seen it look dirty or unkept, and that means a lot of work.pixiedust:

i was lucky enough to enjoy river country with my children a yr or two after it opened and we absolutely loved it. :thumbsup2 wow! that was a long time ago.

Wilderness Lodge DVC has been rumored to be slated for that piece of land for awhile. I've also heard that DVC sales have slowed way down and there is concern that the market for DVC has already near the saturation point.
