How long will TSM take at RD?

If we get to HS at least 30 min before RD so we are in the front of the pack, and go immediately to TSM to ride in stand-by, what time do you think we'd be done riding? After we ride, we plan to grab FPs for later in the day and then most of the group (party of 12) is going to go ride RnRC. I am going to skip RnRC and stay with my 4 little kids but I am wondering if we will be done with TSM in time to make the 9:20 Disney Jr Live show...The park opens at 9 and I know TSM isn't a long ride. Just wondering how quickly we'll get on and off. I am starting to panic about our HS day. We are only doing one day there and with so many things we want to do and see, I am hoping to be able to get to the 9:20 show. I don't think the first show in the morning will be full. I wonder if we are a couple minutes late if we can still get in...thoughts?

Keep in mind that the park really opens around 8:45. So, if you're really there between 8 and 8:15 and you're close to the turnstile, you'll be done with TSM by 9:10. When you exit, there will be a long line for FP's. If you pull one right away, your return time will probably be around noon or so.

We habitually get to the park early enough to be first or 2nd-ish at the turnstiles. We're a group of 3 - 2 adults and a 13 year old so we walk fairly quickly

I remember one time they opened DHS at 8:35 (with a posted opening time of 9 am) - normally they open up closer to 9:45. In any case we rode TSM 3 times before 9 am!

So will you have time to ride before a 9:20 show - IMO yes, if the park opens at 8:45 and you 'move it' over to TSM you should have no problem.

As PPs have mentioned, the park routinely opens 15-20 minutes prior to scheduled opening. If you go straight to TSM you'll likely be on and off before 9 am, leaving you plenty of time to get to Disney Jr. It's not like you have to cross the park to get to it. I'd recommend being at the park closer to 8:15 if you want to be near the front of the turnstile line. But even if you are a little further back, I still doubt you'll have any problems.

I'm wondering where you saw the time for the first Disney Jr. show listed as 9:20. Typically the first show is at 9:40, which certainly gives you more time.

If you really want to max out on TSMM, you can try this strategy, which works great assuming you are either first or second at the turnstiles. I've never been deeper than that so I don't really know how well it will work if you're farther back.

Head straight to TSMM. Have one person get FPs for your entire group. Join the group and ride standby. If the park opens at 8:45 (which it typically does) and if you get one of the first FPs, then your return time will be 9:35. Depending on the crowd levels, you should be able to ride TSMM TWICE and be off by about 9:20. Then your group can head over to Disney Jr. and grab a seat while one person obtains another round of FPs right at 9:35 and then joins the rest of the crew at Disney Jr. You can then ride again when the show is over and then again when the second round of FPs come due. Typically that is anywhere between 11:30 and 1:00.

This may be too much for you. But the point is, my experience says you can safely ride TSMM twice before the first Disney Jr. show, so you should have absolutely no worries about riding it once and still making the show in plenty of time.

Ahhh...that makes sense. Can you please point me to some of the websites that advertise show times this far in advance? I use touringplans.com and typically they only have show times for the upcoming week or so. Thanks!

I will have to check and see if I can find the website that had the show schedules. I know right now it is on the My Disney Experience app and website. I went to the date I was looking for, clicked on the button to "add to my plans" and then once you select a park, the schedule pops up for the shows. (or something along those lines...)

It's a good plan. We've done the opposite - gotten there right at rope drop (near the back of the line). Elected a runner (who can't really run anymore, but the name fits) and the others followed along. Runner gets in line for FPs and the rest get to the front of the ride right about the time FPs are acquired. We all jump in line at the same time and ride - usually about a 20-30 minute wait at that point - if that) and then have a return time for around 11:00. It works perfectly .
