Feb 2013 car rental

Ok I give up! Haha I am either sticking with ME or renting a towncar for the grocery stop. Or I might just do garden grocer.

Ill check back next week right before I leave but am fine with plan b and c haha

I haven't read through all of this but wanted to chime in that Dollar has/had a deal on premium cars for those who need a larger vehicle. $40 per day. Picking mine up at Sanford airport 2/18.

I feel the same way, throwing in the towel and going with ME

Alamo MCO rates just dropped for 2/14-2/17....I think. I am scheduled to fly into Tampa. But another snow storm is coming to my area so I am trying to hedge my bets in case I have to change our flights. Full size car for three days for $99.00. Not sure what it was, but Tampa cars are three times that still.

Try splitting your reservation picking up at one location then returning and picking up at another location. That's what gave me a mini van for $290 and a compact for $226 for 5 days.

This is true. With Alamo if I choose to pick up at The Dolphin and return to MCO instead of pick up and drop off at MCO it drops the reservation cost down a few hundred.
It still doesn't touch my $250 rental with Enterprise, but it might be helpful to some of you still looking. Try the WDW Car Care Centre location with Alamo as well for pick up or drop off.

Yes, that is where I got the $99 for three days rate...MCO p/u with a Dolphin drop off. Now lets just hope SW doesn't cancel anymore flights out of ISP!

Got my Dollar full size back in August for $355 for 8 days. We are arriving in FL on Friday if we can get out in between snow storms. :crazy2: Can't wait!

I am just outside of Buffalo so I haven't seen that there are more storms coming. I hope everything turns out for those of you leaving soon!

2-4inches expected overnight...possibly up to 8. Snow to stop at 5 am. Our flight leaves at 6:50. I would not be too concerned except for two things. Today is the first full day SW has flown out of ISP since the blizzard and there is no availability on any flight to MCO or Tampa until nest week!

I just got an email from Expedia.ca for a one day sale. My dates are February22 to March3rd and its giving me rentals with Dollar in the $350 range. Dollars website is still coming in at over $700.

Now I know on a thread I was on last year for car rentals that Americans can book through the Canadian Expedia and had no issues with their rentals. I have also booked through American Expedia being Canadian and had no trouble. I normally just go with whoever is cheaper and they take my credit card either way. So it's not the greatest price but they are much lower than the car websites so you may want to take a look:)

Checked today to see if Alamo rates has dropped for my date...and got a message that they are "sold out" and have no cars available Feb 21-25.

Wow!

I just happened to check out a code I had never tried before on Budget (D590000) and I used your dates. An SUV is cheaper than a compact!, and comes in at $284.00 including taxes. I didn't use a coupon code, because the one I had for 20$ requires a 5 night stay, and you only had 4 nights. There might be weekend coupon codes available though...

And Expedia.ca is 233 for a fullsize for your dates. Not sure if you have a rental locked in already but you might want to check.:)

Thanks! I think we have decided to use Magical Express. One reason we wanted a car was to get to packet pick up for the Princess Half Marathon. But, the pick up site was moved from WWoS to CSR and they are not allowing cars to park at CSR for packet pick up.

There might be hope yet. My sister in law just booked Dollar 2/21-2/26 for $221 I presume before taxes and fees. Waiting to hear how she got that. Ill let you know

For anyone still holding out hope for a decent rate...
We leave on Friday. I got an email from Priceline offering Bonus cash for a car rental. Basically whatever I bid, they would add 2.00 a day to my offer. So I bid 12.00 on a Standard car for our dates. The rental was for exactly 9 days.

It was accepted:cool1: So for $194.44 (all taxes and fees included) we have a 9 day Standard rental from Budget. That beats my Enterprise rental by $60 for the same car and makes my goal of coming in under $200. :)
So if you are leaving soon and comfortable with Priceline give it a try:)

I just posted this on March rental thread, but realize it's also for February:

I just got a great deal with Budget for a rental starting in 1 week (Feb 27th) for 12 nights (return March 11).

My previous best deal was through National using KLM code and 30$ off coupon for $342.00 (Intermediate car with Emerald Aisle). The price has not changed. Even if I look for the same number of nights starting every day for the next 7 days, nothing changes. So I'm not expecting this to go down.

I checked Budget yesterday, nothing great. Checked this morning (exactly 7 days out) and bingo!

So 12 nights, Feb 27-March 11
Intermediate Car
I found that using the costco code W852802 was slightly better than PP's code (W810011).
Also used 30$ off MUWZ126

$244.36 - 30.00 = $214.36

My only concern is that I have read that Budget tries very hard to upsell (to the point of forcing you to buy extra insurance), and is known to have very long waits at their rental counter in Orlando Airport. I have signed up for Rapidrez and Fastbreaks so that I can skip the counter. Cross fingers!

I really wish National would just lower their rates, it's so painless there and the Emerald Aisle is awesome.

I just used my $30 bonus cash and got a standard thru Avis on priceline for $300.63 for 14 days. Bid $12 and they added $2.00 to my bid. So happy that someone posted on here about their success and I was able to duplicate it!:cool1:
