Is it better to go at the end of Sept or Oct??

I'm trying to book for 6-7 nights (depend on discount), initially I was aiming for at the end of Sept, since that's around my birth day and our anniversary. But I see a lot of sites recommends to avoid Sept due to the high risk of hurricane......however some CM I met a few weeks ago when we were there told us that we should try coming on Sept, since crowd is low..... (kids going back to school and all)

I like the idea of late Oct, since weather will be more manageable with smaller kids, but also afraid any future discount may have chunk of October blacked out...... What do you think??? We are very flexible on dates, very appreciate any advice on which dates are better?

Thank you!

Late October, you do start running into some crowds, because of the F&W Festival, which is very popular with DVCers, as well as MNSSHP.

Better to go end of September, because you have more of a chance of getting a discount.

I'd go with late October. Late September and early October tend to be popular fall break times for a lot of schools now; late October not so much. In my experience in the last few years, a lot of discounts are blacked out in early October because WDW has no problem filling their resorts, only to open up again a week or two later in October.

I'm not exactly sure when F&W Festival begins, but it's been running for our entire vacations the last several years when we've gone in early October. EPCOT's World Showcase is packed due to that every time we go that time of year, though the Future World section is pretty much unaffected. I don't know why it would be more crowded from this later in the month.

If I could go later in October, I would in a heartbeat. Before my girls were in school, we did it once from about 10/26 through 11/2 and it was awesome. Perfect weather with cool nights, low crowds and a great discount on Wilderness Lodge.

noooooo which is more crowded????:hyper::hyper:

If it is a wash....I guess I have to pick end Oct.....for better weather??

I gave you my answer earlier.

I'm thinking about going on 10/19, but should I move it to 10/26 for a week, just to be safe for future discount??

I doubt there'd be much difference between those 2 dates. Most fall breaks (that I know of) occur between the last week of September and the first 2 weeks of October. If any discounts are reinstated due to lack of resort capacity, I bet they'll have done so by about 10/14.

But you'll have to see what discounts are made available later on to be sure. All I'm saying is an educated guess based on past experience. It could be totally different this year, for all I or anyone outside WDW knows for now.

Thanks.....I will try one of the Oct dates then. I just hope they'll have at least 20% off room discount for CR.....

Hurricanes in Orlando are few and far between. Since end of September is still very hot and humid, you will likely get almost daily pop up thunderstorms. But, discounts are better and crowds are lower. We went last week of September and although it was hot, we did not experience much rain and no hurricanes were brewing.

End of October gets busy with MNSSHP being so popular. You'll definitely find lower MNSSHP crowds in September. F&W at Epcot also packs them in. Crowds are more moderate, and temps can go either way.

If I had to choose, I'd go with September. We went a few years back and it was perfect. The weather was great, the crowds were as low as they come, it was a great time to go. If DH wasn't still deployed, we'd go end of September again. We're going to go end of October, and we're having to cross our fingers that they extend the military deal and hope for the crowds to be ok, since it really can be a bit of a gamble that month with F&W and some schools having breaks. So if I were in your shoes, I'd definitely go for September! (but that's just my personal preference!) :goodvibes Either way, it's Disney! :wizard:

We go in October (the second week) and it has been getting more and more crowded. I would go for September.

October you run into the F&W crowd, but you also have the crowds during Halloween week and crowds for Columbus Day week.

We always go in September and love it. It is hot and often there are showers in the afternoon but they are a welcome relief and do not last long. The queues are short - most rides you can just walk on in the morning. Hurricanes do happen but they very rarely close Disney World. There have only been a handful of closures in the last decade.

I've done third week of Sept and the third week of Oct.

OCTOBER!!!!!!!!!!

September is still really hot and pretty much summer humidity.

October was warm but mornings and evenings were very nice and it was really on the 1 pm to 5 pm heat of the day times that drove us to go slower or head indoors.

Plus Food and Wine Festival was great as well.

Last fall me and my famiy went to WDW the very last week of September and First week of October. It was HOT!!! In a previous year we went the last week of Oct/First week Nov and it was PERFECT!! The crowds in September/Oct weren't any better than in Oct/Nov. If we go again we'll probably try to go mid October this time or Oct/Nov again. When we went SEpt/Oct it rained almost everyday of our trip -- still considered hurricane season I hear...

Enjoy!

:goodvibes

We have gone last week in Oct into first week of Nov 2 years in a row and we have had great weather and low crowds. And we had free dining for both trips. Our beginning trip date was 10/27 on both trips and that date was not blacked out either year. We had no problems with food and wine crowds because we just went to Epcot during the day on a weekday and it wasn't bad at all. Not sure how packed it might get at night. Weather is way too hot and humid in Sept for me. I don't want to be outdoors all day sweating in 90 degree heat. That's just miserable to me. As far as rain goes we got rained on one day in 2011 and no rain in 2012.

Thank you everyone!!!

I booked of check-in 10/26 for 7 nights at CR!! Now to the count down to 180 days mark for ADR!!
