Hey y'all!!

I'm Jennifer, I live in SE Pa.

We'll be pulling into FW Dec. 16!

I haven't been to Disney since 1981 (Epcot was still under construction) when I was ELEVEN. My husband & boys (13yrs & 9yrs) have NEVER been there, my Dad is hosting us since he's the one with the RV & the $$.
We're gonna surprise the boys.

I have been obsessing about our plans since I hit the "submit" button last night, haha!

I have to try to squeeze as much as possible into only 4 park days!
Looking forward to all your help!

:welcome: to FW - Know you're plenty excited - bunches of new things to see in the parks, also many changes since you've been there! Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome!

Now someone tell me how I'm supposed to focus on anything else for the next 10 months?? ;)

The only thing to really focus on is how much fun you're going to have when you get to the Fort!

Well,

Come onto the board here at the DIS regularly. :surfweb:

Cheer on other folks as they go through their visits at the Fort (oh, and the theme parks too :rotfl:)

Then we will live viacariously through you when you have your visit.

Hi Jennifer, welcome! December, great time to go. I'm sure your family will find a piece of the magic. :wizard: I'd spend the next 10 months waiting on Dad hand and foot. ;)

HAH! You've got that right!

We are actually being blessed with this gift as kind of a reward.
This past Christmas Dad told me he was thinking about doing it for us "because we never ask for money" (as opposed to my bum siblings who have repeatedly "borrowed" tons of money from him).

None the less, you're right! And I would, if he didn't live 1800 miles away.

Hey Jennifer.
I too am from SE PA. Downingtown to be exact.
I am very blessed. I go to the Fort every year for Thanksgiving.
Sadly, I will be leaving just before you arrive. I check out on the 8th.
Have a great time.

Jennifer,

To me the planning and obsessing is half the fun! So obsess away. I've seen so many people miss so many of the little magical things, or not have what they perceive as a good time because they don't know how to handle the crowds if they don't do the research and plan ahead.

I'm in SE PA too, Chadds Ford. My last visit to the World, and the Fort was July 2010. I'm going through total Disney withdrawal right now. I need a trip to plan!

YES!! I've also discovered that this is going to be harder to keep a secret than I thought! The more cool stuff I discover the more I want to tell the boys.

The other thing I've discovered is that it must be driving my Mom NUTS that she can't help plan for us (sadly, she passed in '05 :( Vacation planning was SO her "thing") because I've been dreaming about her every night.

Hah- since I started this post, I've added a day & night to my reservation.

Annnd..... 5 day park hoppers purchased yesterday!

Now- countdown to ADRs! :goodvibes

So glad to see you added a day to your parks. We just did 4 parks in 4 days and oh my!!!! It was a lot of walking. We stayed in ASMo as we didn't have time to burn hauling the camper.
And we surprised our kids too, so yeah it was really hard not to tell them when I was super excited:upsidedow about all this cool stuff I was learning

WARNING!!!

Staying at FW and going to the Disney parks can be highly addictive!!

Antidotes are hard to come by, and are not known to work too well! :rolleyes1

Our family can well attest to this - started going to the Fort in 1972, and have not been able to break the habit yet! Next visit is April, hopefully to keep ourselves from going into *withdrawal*. :rotfl:

That sounds very exciting, we've done that too with surprising the kids, we had the camper all set to go, since it was our first time with the camper I told everyone including my wife that this was a test drive, they believed me because I do things like this all the time, my middle son knew right away but I still didn't confess. My oldest knew were really going when we reached Maryland, We live in Massachusetts. We will be there in April. Unfortunately my wife passed away in January, but she wanted us to go as her last wish...it's going to be hard but this is what she wanted us to do. No sad moments here just looking forward to some Disney Magic.:thumbsup2

Not only is WDW an obsession for me - planning for my next trip is also an obsession (which is why I check out these boards most days while eating my lunch at my desk at work!) You are doing the right thing by getting advice from these Boards. Enjoy your trip!

Guess I better start looking for a better job to pay for this addiction!!

So sorry to hear of your loss! I know exactly how you feel about doing Dis without a loved one. My mom passed in '05 and I KNOW this will be an emotional trip- even with the magic- for both me and my dad. :worried:
Not only was she "the planner" of trips like this, but she was also the "non-north pole" version of Mrs.Claus. She LOVED Christmas and it is always such a hard time for us. I know people say "time heals" but it really doesn't.. It just becomes "new normal".
I've already cried just watching the planning DVD. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Thank you... you know, you hit the nail right on the head, just what I needed to hear. :thumbsup2 My wife loved christmas and it was never about her it always "everybody" else. Spent 2009 and 2010 At the fort, she loved it. That was the last time she was there and this april will be our first time without her. However we did a lot of camping up here with her, even though she was sick,so I said, be sick up in the bed alone or be in the camper sick with lots of family and friends... We'll always have that time. Thanks for your kind words Really helps....Haven't cried watching the planning DVD... YET :rotfl2:

This brought tears to me. We are going in November. It is the first WDW for our 5 and 7 year old. My daddy LOVED WDW. I've been obsessed also and my daddy who died in August 2012 has been in more than one of my dreams lately. All of them have been in WDW.
