My DD is looking for grad dresses and need suggestions both in the hamilton/burlington areas as well as Buffalo? I have had alot of ppl tell me they have great stores/prices in Buffalo but have no idea where to start

My daugther got her grade dress and most of her semi dresses at Macy's in Buffalo. Another great place for dresses is JC Penny.

JC Penney in Buffalo at Walden Galleria :thumbsup2 In April, you will often find "Saturday morning specials" where the dresses are 50% off between 9-11AM or 9-1PM. We went 2 yrs ago for DD's grade 8 grad ... checked the website the night before and it didnt' say anything about specials, but we knew that's where we wanted to start. Dresses were 50% off before 1PM, all jewellery and accessories were also 50% off. I left there with a beautiful grad dress (that was very similar to one we saw here in Le Chateau for $175), shoes, necklace, 2 prs of earrings (she couldn't decide and at $6 each, it was easier to buy both and decide later :lmao:), bracelet and a ring ... TOTAL including taxes was $115 !!!

Our nephew is getting married this summer and we'll be back to Buffalo for dress shopping for the event !

ENJOY ! Oh, and less chance of someone having the same dress in your DD's class. ;)

YUP! I was going to say JC Penney/Macys. Take a printable coupon with you from www.mommysavesbig.com or check out other coupon sites, there is almost always something for Macys. Having said that, my daughter ended up getting a lower end dress at a place called DEB in the Eastern Hills Mall, about 7 mins from the airport. We had tried so many places but she had a very specific idea about what she wanted, she did not want to look too frilly-anyway, we walked in and there it was, think we paid 50 bucks! It was awesome

Lord & Taylor at Walden Galleria have pretty dresses, always have.
There's a little shop here in Oakville called Mainstream that also has lovely dresses and I understand they have a Burlington location as well. They are pricey though..:confused3

Agreeing with everyone else....it is worth the trip to Buffalo! You'll be amazed at the selection - Lord & Taylor/Macys/JC Penny......all great suggestions! :thumbsup2

Excellent suggestions! I guess we will be doing a trip across the border

I always find something really beautiful and affordable on eBay as well.

If you end up going to Macy's, make sure you bring a 10% off International visitor coupon with you.

You can google for this and it will turn up - right on their website.

LOL...a friend of mine used to work at Mainstream. It's a lot more than pricey. It's the kind of store that you buy $300 jeans. She had many clients that would come in and spend several thousand dollars at a time.

There's a shop called Dakota Mae in the Westdale area of Hamilton (near McMaster). Her stuff is AWESOME and Dakota is great at finding you the perfect outfit. Sometimes you need to go in a few times to find the right item, but she gets new stock in constantly. She has a great eye and gets some super cute dresses in for Prom. PLUS she'll take down your daughters school name to make sure she doesn't sell the same style to anyone else....though she usually only gets 1 or 2 items in the same style anyway. It's always my go-to place for any event.
