Some FP+ Info

This info sounds much better than what was previously rumored and speculated. I hope its true. The whole fireworks and parade viewing still doesn't sound that great to me though. I can 't help but think of World of Color in DCA. You need a FP to be anywhere where you can see the projections, but still have to stake out a spot 90 min to make sure you have a unobstructed view with that FP.

Thanks for passing this along.:thumbsup2

Well, 4 is better than 3. When we were able to tryout the new FP+ system last Sept, we were able to prebook 4 events so that seems to correlate with what you heard. ...although the general thought around here is that you would only be able to get 3 per day. 3 is far too few IMO.

So did it sound like you could prebook 4 FP's plus get some others while you're in the park as well?

Dan

I'm really hoping they have this up and going by our trip the last week in June. We usually have more days in the parks than we do this trip and this would help us tremendously! If we are able to pre select 3-4 FP a day before we go, will we be able to select the rides in various times to compliment our touring plan? For example, set up afternoon FPs for BTMR if we are planning on heading to that side after lunch.

Vice President in charge of MyMagic+ Nick Franklin specifically said 3 prebook FP+. I wouldn't call that rumors or speculation. Things may change to four, but he did say that in his interviews January 7.

The average attendance at Animal Kingdom during the summer is over 30,000 people per day. That park doesn't even have the capacity for 3 FP+ per person, so 4 would be much more tough to pull off. 120,000 FP+ per day would need to come from somewhere. That would mean a whole lot of people ordering CS meals in advance. MK is the only park that can handle that type of FP demand. And 60,000 or more people a day, 240,000 FP is a big number. To meet that demand, people would have to use FP+ for its a small world and stitch.

With FP+ they have to reserve the four each expected guest whether the people use them or not. So, there can't be a lot left over for walk ups. Virtually none in the other three parks.

The wildcard here is how many FP+ will be taken for fireworks or parades. Will that number be in the hundreds or the thousands?

This is what we are all wishing for!
However in terms and con. Limited to 4 per day..
We just don't know if that 4 pre-booked ones or 4 total!

Most people are going for 4 TOTAL! Just based on what info has been released.

This is awful for most of us advanced planners, b/c we can easily get between 6-8 FP per day.. Based on crowds and park hours..

Now on the other hand, if we can book 4 and then go to the park and still get more FPs
That would be wonderful.. It would not punish people who get up for RD and do the work a ahead of time..
I think it would also keep those standby lines from getting so long..

Well of its anything like world of color I would expect thousands!
I couldn't believe the number of FPs people's led up for this... We got lucky, and a CM let us into the dinner package area b/c it was our anniversary!
However I'm not sure if world of color locked you out for 2hours tho..

Do people really need a FP+ for Wishes or illuminations though? I can't imagine thousands for those.

Maybe Fantasmic! 10,000 people per show, how many FP + for that. If I was going to burn one on a parade or fireworks maybe I would choose F! To avoid the wait.

I agree with you...

However AAA firework view goes quickly and almost impossible to get if you don't book it when you book your trip with them.. If that offers any insite

I think it could be a great way for Disney to absorb FP+. Parades too, I just don't know how many locations they could have to take in that many people. When I am there, I hope everyone selects stitch, parades, meet and greets, fireworks, and quick service meals. Then there will be no problem with waits for the rides! :)

You're never going to convince me that there are enough FP slots to allow everyone to prebook 4 slots, then have access to same day in the park FPs and also allow APs to prebook 4 per day any day of the year they might want to go. (If that were me, I'd book a bunch in advance just on the off chance I might want to go. Or maybe every weekend, just to keep my options open).

This will definitely be interesting to watch unfold.

World of Color FPs were not connected to the other FPs. It was a good way to organize the crowds. Those who held FPs for the second show lined up back behind a closed ride and filed in right after the first was over.

Maybe everyone in the park gets one FP+ for wishes. ;)

WoC FP is not connected to the system, ( on wiki it says the viweing area holds 5000) but maybe counting it against the limit is how they could get 4 fp+ out of the system at wdw with parades and shows?

All I meant by rumors /speculation of 3fp+ was that it didn't 't seem written in stone to me. I don 't think an interview makes it absolute. I hope its not true anyway. It will be our kids first trip to wdw at the end of April and since they are used to using fp at DL I think it would be disappointing to be so limited. Bcrook I think your updates have been great on fp+.

Rumor is that "no-expiration" tickets will be going away. I don't know what they will do about the ones that are still in circulation.

This. We have two non-expiring tickets, one with 6 days and one with 10 days. Will they end up converting those two tickets to RFID or will I have to go to a ticket booth every time I'm there and switch them out for the number of days I want to use?

I still don't understand the 3 or 4 FP per day for one park only, though. Are they trying to phase out the PH option as well??:confused3

I don 't think an interview makes it absolute.

Past performance is in sync with that statement, for sure.

Big wigs under the gun will blurt out a line that was discussed at the most recent meeting.

It may or may not have much connection with the final decision.

Stay tuned.

Thanks Lauren for the latest scoop... And hope for multiple FP opportunities under this new system we all fear to some extent since as the PP said, those of us here can easily get 6-7 FP with our rope drop strategies and touring plans.

Perhaps if it is 4 pre-booked, they will be in categories as others have suggested, e.g. 3 attractions and 1 non attraction. Hopefully they won't further aggregate into only 1 Superheadliner, 1 headliner and 1 whatever ride...

I get it, you are correct we don't know what the final number will be.

And I hope ..... your vacation is filled with great joy! :goodvibes

Sorry about this response to mom2rtk, but I couldn't resist! :rotfl2:

A group of us were thinking :) on the rumor board and crunched some numbers. They support your contention.
