Paradise Pier - Concierge Elevator ?

Is it true that the glass elevator is reserved for those who pay for concierge rooms ? I really want to stay there but have heard that the elevators can't keep up with the amount of guests during the rush to the parks in the morning. If I knew that those three floors got their own elevator I will most likely book.

Please talk me into or out of staying at the Paradise Pier

Hmmm. I don't know the answer to your question NOW, but I stayed at PPH in August 2011 in a regular (non-concierge) room and used the glass elevator a few times during my 3-day stay.

The elevators were slow but it didn't profoundly impact my trip.

When we stayed there last year there was no notice reserving the glass elevator for concierge. I think this rumor is because the elevator is well marked and tucked away.

I have used the glass elevator many times without being a guest at all (its a fun elevator to ride up in), so I don't see any reason that non-concierge guests can't use it. The glass elevator is also the fastest elevator there.

When you stay concierge they tell you that elevator is for concierge guests only, but it sounds like they don't tell anyone else that, and there is no enforcement.

We stayed there last feb (non concierge) and used the glass elevators many times. We were never told it was for concierge use only.

I think it's for everyone. We were just there.

We stayed concierge on floor 3 so we just used stairs when we went outside.

If there is no signage stating non-concierge guests cannot use it, it would be nothing like FP enforcement. I would chalk it more up to getting incorrect info from a CM...by telling you it was for concierge only.

OP one trick I use is that if you are waiting for an elevator at PPH, best option is to get on as it is going up. That way, when it gets full as it goes down to the lower floors (and it does), you are already in there.

As with most things that aren't entirely accurate, there is some truth here. The buttons to call the glass elevator only exist on certain floors. The first floor is one and the others are the floors that have concierge rooms on them. I did forget about that on my other post, because it wasn't an issue for us as we were on a floor that had concierge rooms. I am not sure if there is more than one floor that has them, but the point is it didn't affect us.

I just called. She said, "anyone can ride it up, because we don't regulate it, but only concierge guests can ride it down." When you stay concierge, they call it the "concierge elevator."

You equated this to FP enforcement. I am merely pointing out that this is nothing like FP enforcement. If it was, there would be a sign specifically stating the elevator was for concierge guests only, and the hotel staff opts not to enforce it. Since there is no sign to inform non-concierge that they cannot use it, there is nothing to enforce.
I never said you were not told that information...I just pointed out the problems with your comparison.

Yes, it was a bad comparison. I should not have tried to be funny and compare it to FP. Was just trying to lighten a thread about an elevator, which didn't work at all.
Although, you did say it was incorrect information given to me by CMs which is, at least half, incorrect.

We have stayed at the PPH many times. It is our favorite Disney hotel. We feel it has the biggest and quietest rooms. Plus, if you get a view room, it's amazing at night.

Others are correct. Anyone can ride the glass elevator up. Only certain floors have buttons to operate the glass elevator on that floor. We always heard it was for concierge floors too. In any case, I recommend trying to take it up to your floor. It seems a lot of people forget about it and it's usually quicker.

Our last stay in March of 2012 we had a horrible experience with the elevators there. It was the only time of our numerous stays that the elevators were an issue. It took us 25 minutes to be able to even get on an elevator (and we were crammed in like sardines, and had to separate). Then, we had to go up to be able to get down. It was super frustrating. There was some sort of cheer-leading thing going on and a lot of them were staying at the PPH. But we were on a floor where you couldn't use the glass elevator. If I didn't have my luggage and my kiddo in the stroller, I would have taken the stairs.

Overall if we could afford it now, I would always stay at the PPH if I could. Enjoy your trip!

We took the stairs down. They were clearly marked and let us out at the rear of the hotel close to the traffic lights to cross over to the Grand Californian.
