Disembarking - How long can you stay?

Every thread I've read regarding this is about how quickly you can get off the ship. What I want to know is how LATE can I stay on it? We like to sleep late and take our time in the morning. Plus I will not have hotel reservations, limos to meet, or planes to catch that day, so I'm just getting off the ship and driving an hour to my house where I will do nothing but be sad that it's over. How late does breakfast run?

You have to be out of the room by 8:00 am You need to remember someone else is going to be in your room a few hours later and expect it spotless.

Yep, out of the room by 8am. Everyone is assigned an MDR for breakfast that morning based on your dining time though Cabanas/Topsiders/BBB is also open for breakfast. There is no room service that morning, but you can order for delivery the night before. DCL will politely but firmly try to move any stragglers towards the exits by 9:00am. As PP mentioned, they need to get the ship turned over for the next cruise with passengers boarding in just a few hours.

We've stayed on board as late as 10-11 AM once trying to clear up some administrative stuff. Nobody tried to rush us out, but I don't recommend staying that late. Kinda sad being there when the ship is basically empty--there's nothing to do on board at that time. Also, at some point, if there is luggage still waiting to be picked up, they assume it's considered lost and pull it out of the claim area and it was a bit more difficult to get our bags back. The disembarkation crew also closed out the passenger lists and it was a bit of a pain to be allowed off since the computers were already switched over to embarkation mode. This kills more time...

The above situation was unusual.

As noted, unless in concierge, you are requested to be out of your room by 8 and off the ship by 9. Breakfast service ends at 8:30 (this means the food is being removed from the buffet line). You can continue to eat, but no more food served. About 9:15, they start the "sweep" of politely buy firmly encouraging guests toward the door, and by about 10, the cruise has been "closed out" on the computers so that they can start checking in guests for the next cruise.

how long can you stay??? not very...they start with the ship announcement very early then keep them going until you say "ok!! i give up and will get out of bed!!"..

We try to disembark on the tail end because it can be a mad house finding your luggage and going through customs. We'd prefer to wait on the boat until things settle down. Usually between 9-10am. We ask our stateroom host if we can leave our bags in the room while we have breakfast and they are ok with that (they have other rooms they can clean first). We usually have the second sitting for breakfast so that helps.

but as other posters have mentioned, it's weird to be on the ship with no guests.

We had 8 am breakfast, were a little miffed when a castmember knocked on our door at 7:15 am "to make sure we were up". Only cost us 30 minutes sleep, but our bags had been picked up, all we had to do was get dressed and brush our teeth and we sure didn't need 45 minutes to do it.

My most recent cruises on HAL and NCL America, you could stay in your stateroom until 9 and 10am, and somehow they managed to get the ship turned out for the next passengers no problem.
It is interesting that most hotels allow a Noon check out, and have rooms ready by 3 pm for check in.

On the January 6th saing on the Dream, we we not the last off, at 10:30 there was still a really long line. We were doing B2B but there were a lot of people who were just still in line. Why doesn't the Dream call by tag names and colours, letting 4 K people off all at once is a cluster at best.

Yes, but hotels do not turn over all their rooms at once, so that it is not really a fair comparison.

Just an amusing story about disembarkation morning.....My husband and I did the 2 night cruise to nowhere on the Magic last summer. We had a category 11 room, so we were inside-no porthole. I woke up and the clock in the room said 11:15...OMG!!! How are we still asleep, I push my husband,"GET UP, it is 11:15 and we are still on the ship, how did they not wake us up!!!" We threw our clothes on, brushed our teeth, grabbed the last of our toiletry items and threw them in a bag. I put my watch on and looked at it..it said 7:15. WHAT??? I turned my cell phone on, cause we are home and no roaming charges....yes, it is 7:15 am.. Well, we got to have a nice relaxing breakfast before we got off the ship!

I agree that it is rude to ask the stateroom host to leave your stuff in the room. If everyone wanted to do that it would be impossible to get the rooms clean and on time for the next guests. They kindly request you off at a certain time and I think we shouldn't find reasons to stay on later just because we aren't in a hurry. Yes, the host could have said no but Disney typically trains the CM's not to.

Most hotels don't have to turn over 1,000 plus rooms in 3/4 hours
