Can you decide to do a split stay? WHile you're at the resort?

We're booked for ALSports THIS Feb 23-March5th. If we decide in the middle of our vacation, we want to upgrade to a moderate, is it hard to do? Or does it need to be all planned out before we get there?

Thinking of trying CBR... but if we're perfectly happy with ALSports,.. why waste the $$.....

And if so, do we do it at the front desk? Or call?

I'm wondering about this too. I may actually be considering just upgrading in the same resort, but only for part of the trip because of the expense. It will depend on availability of course, but I think as long as you aren't downgrading it would be okay.

I think anything is possible. I have left a resort I wasn't happy with and went to another. I think it will be easier if you have a room only reservation and not a package.

Definitely plan it out before you get there. Then you'll be able to take advantage of any available discounts -- otherwise you'll be looking at full rack rates.

They won't give you the room discount? if you trade up in the middle of your stay? I had thought I had read somewhere on here, that people like to upgrade in the middle of their vacation. (spur of the moment)
... maybe I got that wrong!

Resort discounts are offered months in advance, often with a "book by" date well ahead of your travel dates. This, if you are already inside of your travel dates, those discounts would no longer be available.

Our friends did switch mid stay once. They were at All Star Music, and there was some big, loud group staying there and they were annoyed and went to the front desk and asked to be moved. They did move to POR, and paid the up charge to do so.

There have been instances where people have upgraded resorts and were able keep their original discount, but that is usually not the case. There may have been extenuating circumstances to allow that, but usually if you decide to change resorts mid stay, you will lose any discount you had on the original resort and pay the up charge to switch to the new one.
