Trying to decide whether to do CBR or POR. 2 children, age 12 and 9. Which resort would you do? Any difference in price?

I would look at videos on you tube of both resorts and see which suits your family best. Both resorts have their own groups of fans. For our family, cbr suits us best. But I would happily stay at either. One negative for cbr, it only has full size beds where as POR has queens. They should run about the same price.

Just asked DS-11, since we stayed at POR in 2012 and CBR in 2011. He says he liked the pool at CBR better but the room at POR. We were in alligator bayou, so we had the pull down extra bed. DS and DD-6 both slept in it for a night, even though we didn't need the extra bed, just because it was cool. I feel like the quick service at CBR is better. POR always seems so busy and crowded.

Also may depend on whether your kids are male or female. CBR has pirate rooms and POR has the "Royal Rooms" which may be more appreciated by females.

We stayed at CBR when our DDs were 7 and 11. We stayed at POR when they were college students. Both said they liked CBR best. I think it was the theming and overall ambiance. We did have a car while at CBR so it made it easy to get everywhere. For POR, we used the buses and found it best to be at the front bus stop rather than wait at the rear bus stop. The buses fill up quickly in the mornings!

The price should be similar, though the Pirate Rooms at CBR are a bit more expensive than standard rooms.

CBR is my least favorite out of the moderate resorts (including Coronado and POFQ). That being said, all 4 of them are great resorts.

I'm not a fan of CBR's standard rooms, though the pirate rooms look pretty neat. The rooms at both Port Orleans resorts have been recently renovated, and Coronado was renovated back in 2009-2010. I'm pretty sure that Caribbean beach did some minor updates to their rooms (as well as turning some into brand new pirate rooms) not too long ago, though they're still the oldest looking of the 4 resorts.

The most common complaint about CBR is the transportation. The resort is fairly large and spread out, leaving you with either very long walks or needing to wait for a bus to get around. This isn't as big of an issue if you have a car, though it's still a bit inconvenient.

As far as the pool goes, I'd say Caribbean Beach and Coronado have the best of the moderates, followed by POR and finally POFQ.

Both the royal rooms at POR and the pirate rooms at CBR are upgraded booking categories.

Hmmm...I could've sworn they had one for the same price as a standard room when I was booking our trip for March (but I chose Coronado instead). Either I'm delusional or it was cheaper for me for some reason; it seems as if it is meant to be more expensive.

Yes CBR is large and sprawled out. But so is POR. We had much better bus service at CBR and felt like POR was much less convenient for its size and layout. The pool at CBR is far better, the food court is about the same, the rooms are the largest (but by a very tiny margin), and the theming is on par with POR. For us it came down to ease of transportatin, pool and room "feel". With two kids, we spent a lot of time at all the moderate pools. cbr won hands down. Transportation was best at CBR (close to Epcot and thus closer to MK and HS while POR is closer to DTD and Typhoon Lagoon). The whole family loved the feel of the rooms at CBR best with the bright colors. I love the AB rooms at POR but have to admint I feel more "on vacation" in the tropical themed rooms of CBR. One note, CBR is the only moderate resort to still have full size beds as opposed to queen in most rooms.

For us it is an easy call. CBR feels like vacation and feels like Disney to us. But you really can't go wrong.

We've never stayed at POR, but we loved CBR. We loved everything about the resort.....the grounds were beautiful, the pool was fun, and the bus transportation was great. I think the kids would probably like the pirate themed pool. Good luck.

We've stayed in both, and although we liked both resorts a lot, I'd give the leg up to POR.

For our family it seemed like there was more to do and the boats to DTD were a plus.

I don't think you could go wrong either way.:goodvibes

We have stayed at both. Until they update CBR, I'd probably go for POR. POR was just updated last year, so everything is pretty new. When we were there, they were in the process of replacing ALL the windows in a couple of the buildings. CBR is the only Mod that still has full size beds. If you get into AB at POR, you would have the extra murphy bed for your younger child.

We liked both of them. They are about the same size and both pretty resorts. The bus service was great at both of them. POR has an edge with the boat to DTD and the make your own pasta in the food court is good(you choose the toppings...they make it). At POR you can also go over to FQ to beignets or to use the pool (it is one of the few resorts that allows pool hopping).

I have enjoyed reading the reviews of both of the resorts. I had to choose between the 2 myself when I booked our vacation 2 days ago. I chose CBR because I thought POR would remind me too much of home since we live in AL. I doubt I ever get to go to the Caribbean so I thought that CBR would be the closest that I ever come to it!!
