I'm investigating getting the pass, but want to understand this correctly (this is from the disney pp website):

If you dine at any of the following locations and purchase the photos offered tableside, those photos can be added to your Disney's PhotoPass account. Tableside photo purchase is required to add dining photos to your Disney's PhotoPass ID.

So we don't get the pics added on to our pass unless we buy the photos at the restaurants?

Is a pp worth it?

If you have the traditional PhotoPass that is correct. However if you have PhotoPass Plus you get the dining photo's included (you get the actual printed copies along with the digital on your CD). We have pre-purchased PP each of the last 4 years and this past year we opted for PP+. We found it well worth it. We found ourselves looking for more photographers and stopping to get shots we normally wouldn't have gotten if we didn't know ahead of time it was all going to be included. The PP+ also gives you all of the ride photos on your card which was another nice bonus.

For us PP and PP+ have been worth every penny.

PP is awesome. We used it last time we went down and it make life easier. There's only two of us though, so it's easier to have someone else take the photo for you, especially with characters. Granted, the price has gone up (does anyone know if they still offer the pre-order deal?), but we will be paying again for our next trip. It's nice to have pictures taken professionally.

A lot depends on the duration of your stay and if you're gonna stop to get photos almost every time you see a PP photographer (granted, doing this down Main Street is overkill, but you know what I mean).

1. So we don't get the pics added on to our pass unless we buy the photos at the restaurants?

2. Is a pp worth it?

1. Correct. However, you can pre-order PhotoPass +, which would not only get you all the pictures you get taken by PhotoPass photographers, but would also allow you to add ride photos from the rides that offer them, as well as dining photos from the restaurants that offer them, without having to purchase them.

2. Actually, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by getting the pass. Do you mean pre-ordering the CD? If so, then just getting 8 pictures taken by PhotoPass photographers would get you to the cost of the pre-order (pictures are $15 a piece), and after that you'd be saving money with every additional picture you get taken. A lot of people (including me) think it's worth it because then you can get your whole group in the picture (although in my case it means getting me in the picture since I go solo ;)), plus you can get magic shots (where Disney characters get added to the photos), as well as various borders you can add on the PhotoPass site, which means that you can easily end up with hundreds of pictures.

Everything I could find had the pp+ for $149 and then the CD for $169...

is that right?

Are there photographers at the various dinner/dessert parties? We're doing the pirates voyage and would love pics of that included!

No-- PP+ includes the CD, you do not have to buy it separately. PP+ is $149 if pre-ordered before your trip. If not pre-ordered it is $199.95. The only difference between regular photopass and PP+, is that plus includes ride photos, pirate's league photos, and restaruant photos. With regular photopass those are NOT included, you have to buy them separately. They can add up fast. If you plan on even getting a couple the price difference is worth it.

Regular photopass (which also includes the CD) is $119.95 if preordered before your trip. If it is not pre-ordered, then the regular photopass is $169.95.

The PP++ is so worth it in my opinion. The ride pictures alone usually make it for me

I love Photopass.

I always get the discount by ordering it through mousesavers.com. We'll be using PP+ for the first time in a couple weeks. They sent me some papers & instruct me to take them to one of the Photopass desks to "activate" it.

I'm curious whether they will give us one special PP card for adding the ride/dining/special event pics or if other family member on other rides or in other parks can use it as well even if we're not all together. What family stays all together over a week at WDW?

There's also this from the FAQ section on that page:

"Q. My family may split up and go on two different Attractions however only one Disney PhotoPass+ card is provided, what can I do?

R. If your family splits up and goes on different Attractions you may save your Ride Stub with the photo # and later on stop by the Attraction to claim the photo with your Disney PhotoPass+ card. Keep in mind that photos are available in our system for only 48 hours after capture; make sure you visit the Attraction to claim your photo within that time period. "
