A $500 Walk to MK?

So, I was pricing the difference between CR and WL, and it is roughly a $500 difference. I am sure the $500 includes other amenities, but is being able to walk to MK worth the $? :confused3

I was on Trip Advisor reading some horrid reviews of the CR. WL has considerably less bad reviews, and even won a trip award. We are booked for the Garden Wing, and I requested a patio room, which I know we may not get. Am I under the correct impression that all WL rooms have a patio(something I really want). This is me reading every review of WL and CR - :coffee:

I am annoying myself with this indecisiveness. Can someone shed any light on this issue or just tell me to snap out of it, you're going to WDW, relax?!!!

We've stayed at both. While we love the theming at WL, we prefer CR overall (we're actually staying at BLT this time). The rooms at CR are considerably larger, and we like our space (plus we have a big family). We stayed in the tower, Bay Lake side, and just really enjoyed it. At WL, we did have a small balcony. If you want an actual patio, know some are right on the pool with no privacy. Plus, at CR, you've got the monorail versus all bus/boat service.

While I use TripAdvisor, I tend not to rely on it for Disney or expensive hotels. Non-Disney peeps have different expectations, especially for the price paid.

I haven't stayed at WLAN, however we have stayed at CR and it was worth it to us. We have younger kids who love MK and we stayed during peak season. Being able to walk to MK was worth the price of not having the bus aggravation. Also with 5 people in our family we wanted a room that was large and had everything we needed close ( more amenities). As our kids grow older we are looking towards venturing into other resort that may not be on the monorail line, but the convenience with small kids and midday breaks is worth us paying for right now. You just have to look at your family and see what works best for them. Good luck! :)

Honestly, I think that you will be pleased with either choice you make. I have personally stayed at the WL 2x's! The resort is Beautiful :thumbsup2 I have never stayed at the CR, but I have heard great things about it. I have walked through their to Lobby to go to Chef Mickeys and I could see myself staying there. The WL and AKL, I believe, are the least expensive Deluxe resorts. Not quite sure why :confused3 . The one thing I can say is having a monorail is such a selling point for us!!

Thank you Carolinamama (I'm in N. Carolina!) and AleedraS! Can you take a double stroller on the boat from WL to MK?

Thank you! My children will be 6 and 5 at the time of the trip, and I keep thinking that maybe the monorail/walkway will be a lifesaver at midday cranky times. But then I look at pictures of the WL - so beautiful! I'm annoying! Isn't there another thread for habitual resort changers? Lord, help me! ::yes::

I would really take TA reports on wdw with a huge grain of salt. We love WL and just wanted to add that the bus to MK is literally 5 minutes. However with a stroller some people don't find the buses convenient. I do think $500 is worth it to be that close to mk and on the monorail. However do you like the theming of the CR? We don't and we love the theming and feel of the WL. also the WL buses are the best we have found on property (with the exception of service to dtd). Good luck with your decision!

I'm traveling with 2 other adults who literally want me to "just take care of it, we know you'll do great". I SO feel your indecisive, "want it to be the perfect choice" pain. Wanted you to know you're not alone, not one bit.

Aw, thanks!! :wave2: Planning a WDW vacation is becoming a full time job! Good luck!

room size is different. CR is 436 sq ft and WL is 340 sq ft. You can sleep 5 plus a baby under 3 at CR. WL you can sleep 4 plus a baby under 3.

I'm thinking it could be a little tight, especially when bringing in my Bob double stroller. The extra space at CR is a big plus for my mom, who is traveling with us. Thanks!

Some people feel the theming of the CR is not as Disney as other resorts. Personally I love the space and the view!!! WL is nicely themed ( a little more cramped) but I go to the northwoods at home, not in Fla.

CR is an older resort, so the rooms are bigger. WL has a very quick bus to MK. There are some boats to the MK from WL that you cannot leave the kids in the stroller and will need to fold it up (the smaller boats).

We stayed in a wing room several years ago when they were tearing down the North Wing (where BLT now stands) and thought the room was great. We did not have a patio, just the slider window with the bar in front. But I really liked that room.

If you are looking at somewhere else to dine, you can take a boat to FW or to the MK and then the monorail to the monorail resorts to dine. At the CR, you can take the monorail to the monorail resorts to dine or take a boat to WL or FW to dine. Of course there are lots of other places to dine, but these would be the most convenient.

The CR will also have the extra day bed if the kids don't want to sleep together. So you'll have two queen beds and the day bed. At WL, there is no day bed. Just two queen sized beds unless you get the bunk bed room, then you'll have one queen and two bunk beds.

How long are you staying? If that $500 was split up over 7 or 10 days, I think it's worth it. Also, what type of room? If it's a tower theme park view, I think it would be worth the money.

We are staying May 12-18 in a Garden Wing room.

Its worth it if you can afford it. All deluxe hotels are amazing, we have stayed at all but the grand Floridian and they are all great so you really can't go wrong. However Contemporary is our favorite, my daughter loves Chef Mickeys and the walk back and forth to Magic Kingdom can be a life saaver when the monorail gets packed. Either way you can't go wrong the Wilderness is great but we love the style of rooms at the contemporary and the location. Hope this helps, enjoy your trip.

I haven't stayed WL but we have stayed several times at CR (wing and tower). With kids of stroller age it is SO worth it to be able to monorail (or walk) instead of taking a bus from MK.

And don't forget the monorail to EPCOT too! Sure, it takes a bit longer because of the TTC transfer, but to not have to get sleeping children out of a stroller is priceless

I say CR all the way! Just put in a room request for a ground floor to get a patio and then double check that it was granted at check in. If not, inquire politely if one will become available and that you are willing to wait if necessary.
