Is it nuts to book a return flight at 8:55 a.m.? We found a great deal on a return flight $49 per person but it departs from MCO at 8:55 a.m.

I've only flown once and it was years ago, so I don't know what to expect time-wise.

I will assume that you are asking about taking ME back to the airport and using RAC to send your bags on their way.

If using ME, figure your bus will depart three hours before your flight and you must be at the stop about 15 minutes ahead of time. Therefore, you will need to be at the bus stop around 5:45 am.

The RAC desk opens at 5:00 am and your luggage must be checked in at least three hours before your flight. So as long as you are there when they are open or 5:15 am or so, it gives you plenty of time to check in your bags and get on the bus.

You can find all the information regarding RAC and ME on the transportation board.

I would grab the good airline deal. Although you will be leaving early, sometimes I find that when I book a flight later in the day, I feel more like I am waiting around to get on my flight and not enjoying the day as much. Have a fun time.

We usually take the ME back for early for our flight. It's never been a problem actually prefer it.

I've taken early morning flights home on Sat's. The airport was always crazy busy! ME will pick you up approx 3 hours before your flight. Be at the bus stop abt 15 minutes prior to pick up time.

I agree -I don't like later flights on departure day because I spend the whole day clock watching and feeling like I'm killing time. However, in OP's case, I don't know if I would take a flight that early. Since they'd have to get up so early, I'd think it would ruin your last night there too. I'd be feeling like I would have to get to bed at a reasonable hour or be tired/crabby on departure day.

As for the airport, I have both arrived and left on Saturday mornings and found it very crowded. It seems to me that airport is always crowded so I wouldn't worry about that.

we did that last June and hated it- this time we are going opposite extreme and taking a 8pm flight, because we are flying on awards travel and had limted options.
We did not take the ME back, because it was just too early for us.

We did that once and swore never to do it again.

ME picked us up in a van. DS1 was 3 at the time and ride illegally without a child seat. Come to find out, the van was overbooked, but one family didn't show up. The driver drove like a bat out of Hades to the airport.

I was back home sorting laundry by lunch. Depressing!!

We now fly back around 5 or 6 pm. It's only a 90 minute flight home.

We actually book y
The latest flight available. The kids get to slerp in and enjoy an extra park day. Then sleep on the flight home.

We have booked an 8:30 am flight for the day we go home because it saves us $145 per person. We don't mind losing a few hours of sleep for that savings.
