Wonder Disembarkation

For those of you who have cruised the Western Caribbean out of Miami on the Wonder, what time did you disembark? We are scheduling a flight from Miami to Orlando so we can hit WDW as early as possible. I would love to be on the 10:10 flight. I know the official Disney site recommends no flights earlier than 12:30, but is that based on flying out of Orlando from Port Canaveral which is a much longer drive from port to airport? I would like to know if it is realistic to get there in time to be on such an early flight, based on your experiences getting off this ship in this port. Thanks!

If you do express walk off (keep your luggage and get off at 'all clear') you might make it. The airport is about 20 minutes from POM.

So if the ship clears customs by 7:15 or so, and you are first in line, and you have no problems in customs, you should get a taxi about 7:45 or 8, and to the airport by 8:30.

If anything goes wrong, you're toast.

I figure I have to be at the airport by 9:15 or so to check in. So if we are in a cab by 8:45, we should be in good shape, right? If we don't do express check out, how long does it usually take to collect luggage and get a cab? Might do the noon flight instead.

I think you are much safer taking the noon flight. I got off the wonder about 2 weeks ago out of Miami. Express check out was allowed to leave between 730-8 is when they made the announcement I believe. However, if you dont want to do that luggage is called by character tag in Miami and you need to wait until it is called. I think we got out of the port in a timely manner but it would be cutting it so close to do the 10am that you should play it safe. Better to miss 2 hours of fun then missing your flight and missing a lot more then that...

This is good advice. I am always so excited to get started at WDW that I sometimes cause myself unnecessary stress. What is the latest time we can get off the ship? (If I'm not going to be in a hurry, I'd like to take my time.) We have 2nd seating for dining, so what time does that give us for breakfast on the last day?

We were in the last group called (and the ship was cleared for customs at 7:15, so we weren't late into port) and it was 10 before we were waiting for a taxi.

Did you look into renting a car and driving to Orlando from Miami? It might be just as fast and cheaper. Orlando is only 4 hours away.

By the time you leave the boat, go to the airport, check-in, fly to Orlando and get transportation to WDW it might be the same amount of time. Especially if you have to wait for the noon flight. If you get off the boat at 10 and are on the road by 10:30 or 11.... Just an idea.

We had 2 flight options 11:00am and 8:00pm. I was worried that we would miss the 11:00am flight so I booked the 8:00pm. We were in the 4th or 5th group called and we got off the ship a little before 8:30 and took a cab to MIA and got there just before 9:00 (there was quite a bit of traffic). We ended up paying $300 change fee for the 4 of us, but we got on the 11:00 flight. After standing in line at the ticket counter etc, we were at our gate by 9:30.

Those fees drive me crazy.
If there are empty seats why can't the just switch you????

The airlines would be seen in such a better light if they did things this way.
But I know its all about the almighty buck.

Today the wonder was cleared at 730 am and express and 4 of the groups were cleared by 815 we were the past and we're off at 925am and in a rental car heading to Orlando at 1010
