How are you handling your return?

We will be paying off the remainder of our credit cars and paying off our trip to Disney! We are going 12/1-12/8, Boardwalk resort!

I think this year we will
buy new living furniture ( every 5 years)
Have our driveway resurfaced ( nice, black, and smooth again)
Put stone on our fireplace chimney ( which is on our roof outside)
Put any left over in our Disney fund ( just us girls are going next fall.. Staying at the Grand Floridian, Club Level, Theme Park View Room!! Can't wait:)

Admittedly, I am an odd-duck CPA who does not throw up at the general tax refund (assuming one doesn't have huge interest-bearing debt they could be paying off throughout the year) so I myself am getting a bit of refund this year - but man your tax refund must be the size of some people's paychecks if you are getting all that utility out of it! I mean, $50-100 each paycheck, I get how you could waste that away, but what you are talking about is some significant money!

Depending on what we get back...

1. Pay down some debt
2. Put some in savings
3. Get a new mattress set for DH & I
4. If anything is left, it will go towards this year's homeowners insurance bill

Mine is boring. My employer accidentally messed up some of my benefits, and it works out that I owe them a significant amount of money. So that's where the tax return is going. Anything else is going into savings to cover when I'm on maternity leave.

We have no credit card debt, so our extras always goes into house projects. This year were redoing our mud room, so new washer/dryer, flooring and cabinets. Then car repair maintenance for our road trip this summer!!

My RETURN is getting filed with the IRS and state tax department. I'm not sure what I'm doing with my REFUND yet.

We take a couple hundred to buy gift cards for date nights and movies we'll see through the year. Then half will go to DDs braces and half will go to our summer Disney trip.

-Deposit for our beach vacay for June
-Pay off loan
-Pay off 1 credit card
-put some into savings
-save some to pay for the kids sports this year.

:)

Mine is really exciting. We'll use it to pay our property taxes. :headache:

Yep, me too. No mortgage so I always just pay the taxes with my refund.

buy new living furniture ( every 5 years)

 Really? Can I have the "old" stuff? It's a decade newer than mine. :)

Besides property taxes:

* Splurging on a Dooney & Bourke Disney vintage pattern bag. Will wait and buy at the parks in March to ensure I get a desirable pattern layout.

* Getting the A/C fixed in my son's car

* Will probably blow the rest during our March Disney trip. We're not financial geniuses. ;)

Tell ya what? I'll replace our furniture when I see fit, and you do the same! K?
Why would anybody comment on this???

Because you made a point of posting it and they were curious? I was wondering also!

Why would they not comment? Why is asking so wrong?

Count me in as another who's really amazed at the size some of these refunds must be! We rarely get a refund, sometimes we owe. I think the biggest refund we've EVER gotten was $1200.

My husband has a high paying job,and due to that, has a lot taken out of his pay checks.
We have a financial advisor who guides us in making smart choices with our finances, as well as a company that does our taxes each year.
Also, our refund isn't just solely from what was taken out of pay checks -- there are several different things/ reasons ... we also own shares and stock.

We filed both IRS and state over the weekend.

Planning on getting a Precore recumbant bike
A treadmill
Paying down our Oct WDW trip
Savings

Why would anybody comment on this???

When you post on here you have to be prepared for someone to comment. I was the one who originally asked if you normally replace your furniture every 5 years. What is wrong with that :confused3

I am not expecting much but whatever it is goes into the trip fund and will be applied to our August trip.:)

We get back a good chunk. If I could figure out a way to get it back during the year instead of at tax time I would do it.
