should we request a certain building or area? CSR

We are arriving next week (the 8th) and then on the 12th my parents and sis and bil are arriving. We would like rooms together ideally and also would like to be near a bus stop (mom has trouble walking too much and refuses to use a chair or scooter) We have smaller kids (4 and 7) but I think it will be too cold to swim. We probably won't be eating in the lobby much at all.

Any idea on what we should request at Coronado Springs? Or if we should even bother requesting?

thanks!

If you don't want to pay for a preferred room (which I wouldn't), Casitas 4 and 5 are close to bus stop 2, which is the first bus stop going to the parks (Bus stop 1 in front of the main building is the first stop if going to DTD). The Casitas is a very pretty section with it's lovely fountains. Personally though my favorite section is the Cabanas with their white sand beaches and hammocks. My favorite building is Cabanas 8A. It's close to bus stop 4 (the third stop), not that far from the main building, and close to the main pool and hot tub (with Disney weather you never know when you may have a day warm enough to swim). I don't like the Ranchos section, but that's just a personal preference. I don't like the way they look or how far away they are from the main building.

I've been in Casitas 1, Casitas 2, Rancho 6A (for just one night), Cabanas 9B twice, Cabanas 9A twice, Cabanas 8B, and Cabanas 8A twice. Every single time I've requested 'first floor Cabanas with a preference for Cabanas 8A'.

Definitely worth requesting what you want; they will give it to you if they can. If you don't have a strong personal preference for any section of the resort and don't plan on swimming, then I would just prioritize being near a bus stop and near each other. The suggestion of Casitas is good just in case you do need to access the main building.

I agree with requesting Casitas. I think Bldgs 3 or 4 are good choices.

What's the best way to request a building? Just call the regular reservations line?

We've stayed in all the different sections and I agree with aubriee about requesting Cabanas 8A with Casitas 4 or 5 a close second. If you don't get your choice I feel really certain that you'll love the section you're assigned because they're all beautiful.
When you call to request, make sure you let them know about your mom. Also that you'd like your rooms as close together as possible. Tell them whichever request is more important to you first.

Yes, just call the main reservation number and ask the CM to add a room request.

Don't be too specific though. At a Value or Moderate I always ask for ground floor, then list at least 2 or 3 buildings I know I'd be happy in. At a Deluxe I just ask for a high floor not facing a parking lot. I feel if the room assigner see several options I might have a better chance of getting what I want, than if I was too specific.

Its too late. You reservation has already been sent to the resort and there is no direct number to call the room assigner at the resort. You'll have to request at check in if you do not like the room assigned to you.

Reservations are sent to the resort 10 days prior to arrival.

I was at CSR the week before Thanksgiving (loved it by the way!) and did online check in with no room requests 10 days out. Two days later I called Central Reservations and requested the Cabanas section, I was told no problem by a lovely cm who said she'd note it on my reservation, but she then advised me to go through the online check in procedure again. We arrived early on check in day with a room all ready for us in Cabanas 8A! It was a wonderful trip!

I don't know, she seemed pretty knowledgable about the other requests that I had made in earlier phone calls in regard to our reservations. Perhaps it was just a coincidence that we got the section that we wanted. At any rate, we were pleased with our outcome and hope that the op has as great a time as we did :)

Hi. We are also going to CSR for the first time. Thanks for the great info. I think I will request cabanas 8A. My question is can I request no parking lot view if we have a standard room? Or are those more? We want to be close to the Dig Site because we will spend a lot of time there. Thanks!

I stayed there 18 months ago and loved casitas and cabanas equally. Personally- I would leave a tiny element of surprise and just request that you DON'T get ranchos. I honestly found nothing appealing about ranchos- don't know how Disney could think it was appealing to build such a bland, depressing part of the resort - and not to mention- a long hike from the food court! (Sorry if there are a few ranchos lovers!)

Someone said it was too late and to wait until check in. I've been told before to call just inside of the 10 day mark so that you CAN talk to a room assigner at the resort. Try this phone number for Coronado. I found it on Allears.net. I think they have the actual numbers for the resorts on that site. Their numbers have for me before when I stayed at CBR and POR, calling just a about a week before check in.

The Coronado Springs Hotel is located at: 1000 West Buena Vista Drive; Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830-1000; Telephone: (407) 939-1000; Fax: (407) 939-1001

Pretty much it's just standard-parking lot or water view which is an additional cost. We've stayed in both. The parking lot view was blocked by palm trees and really wasn't bad at all.

Ranchos didn't bother us, it's just a different look. In fact Ranchos 7B is a fantastic location. Right near the Dig Site and the shortcut bridge to El Centro.

That number will just get you to a call desk and not the resort. They might even say, "Coronado Springs" but it's not. Even when staying onsite and dial the desk, you don't get the desk. It's still a call center and they forward your request to the resort. Part of why Disney resorts are not what they once were, IMO.
