Concierge Levels at Poly or GF

I am trying to find out about the concierge level at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian.

Is the "Tonga" building connected to the main building where the monorail is without going outside? Or are all the concierge rooms only in the Hawaii building?

And is the "Sugar Loaf" building close to the main building?

My Dad isn't able to walk a whole lot and I want to make sure he will be ok.

I know the Contemporary is all in the same building, but we've been there and are looking for something different.

The Sugar loaf is close to the main building. You can make a request for a room near the stairs to be even closer. Please note that you cannot get into the main building concierge if you are staying in the Sugar Loaf.

it is! they have two separate club levels, one in sugarloaf and one in the main building.

at the poly, i am pretty sure that no rooms are in a building that connects to the main building. but we have stayed in hawaii and the walk to the main building is really quick (my mom has mobility issues, so i totally get it).

not to go off topic but if you can possibly convince dad to rent a scooter it might make things easier. my mom never wanted to but was so glad she did!

Right now it's a pride thing. He's stubborn. We are working on him trying out a cane for right now, but it didn't go over so well.

At the Poly, the Great Ceremonial House (main building) isn't connected to any longhouse, but CL rooms aren't that far of a walk. At the GF, there are two club levels. Royal Palm Club (RPC) is located on the 4th floor of the main building and Sugar Loaf (SL) is located in an outer building that's right next to the main building and is not a far walk to the main building to catch the monorail, dine, or shop.

oh no! they might be confused, i have read that RPC can use SL but not the other way around (we never tried to use SL when staying RPC so i cannot confirm). with that said, my understanding is that the food is identical, so their experience should still be great.

RPC is amazing and so convenient to monorail. We are trying out the Hawaii building at Poly this time (it's saving a lot of $$$$) but I think we are really going to miss the convince of RPC. Maybe you can book with pin or AP discount and make it work, I think that would a great option for your dad.

As the pp said, guests staying RPC can access both lounges, but guests staying SL can only use the SL lounge and will not have access to the RPC lounge. The food offerings are the same in both, though.

At the Polynesian, Tonga is connected to the main building by a covered walkway and it is club level. I've never stayed in that longhouse but tikiman has lots of info on his site. Tonga is all suites if I remember correctly although one is a honeymoon suite and more reasonable than the others if that matters.

Pretty impressive suites. We ended up Hawaii, garden view and loved it.

The SL building at the GF is a wonderful building and has a huge variety of food. Definitely a wonderful CL. I will say that it is a long walk to the monorail if you have issues walking. My family did not find it far but after a couple of days it was a lot for my parents. It would be much better being in the main building if you have issues walking.

My DM has trouble walking alot but won't use a scooter so I know how that goes.

Both SL and the Hawaii buildings are pretty close to the lobbies -- but then you will also need to go up on the elevator to get to the monorail level. I don't think there's much of difference "convenience wise" except that the lounge at the Poly is on the 2nd floor so that's another elevator trip for you. (I am assuming your Dad wont want to take the stairs). The lounge in SL is right when you walk in the building, and I do think that the GF is a more compact resort with a bit less walking involved.

As others have said, the most convenient would be to stay at RPC in the main building at the GF (then it's just an elevator and very short walk down to the monorail). The downside of RPC for me is the price -- it's quite expensive.
