It's a quote from the movie.

Yep, well I never saw the movie. Sorry, I don't find it amusing. NOt on a plane, not in these times. Just goes to show you, they will let anyone wearing anything on a plane these days.
Inconceivable!
***headdesk***
Not anymore....at least to me. There is nothing that surprises me about the stupidity of some people these days.
Since I've seen the movie and know the quote, I probably wouldn't think much of it.
But if I had not seen the movie, didn't realize it was a well-known quote, was on an airplane with the guy wearing it, and did take time to read the shirt? Yeah, I might at least think twice about it.
Wearing a shirt that says "Prepare to die" onto an airplane = bad idea.

What does that even mean? That because it is, per you, a "pop culture classic", that everyone SHOULD be familiar with it, whether or not they've seen the movie? I guess I'm just not up on pop culture, because I would have no idea what it meant. If all it said was "prepare to die", it would be concerning.
The entire quote is a pop culture classic, whether or not someone has seen the movie. I think 'a number of passengers' made a mountain out of a molehill.
Yeah, it all sounds so spontaneous. I'd be willing to bet it was all concocted ahead of time. Either he knew someone would question it, or he just created the story. __________________The creator of the shirt said on Twitter that he sold the shirt to Mullins at a sci-fi convention. We made this shirt in little Wellington New Zealand. This guy has made us famous for one day! @VerboomLeftBank tweeted.

Ha ha ha.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means
+1

DH has that shirt- though the " name tag" is smaller- it's the size of the actual sticky tags - about 3"x5". DH has worn that shirt on an airplane multiple times, never had any issues, though now I've probably jinxed that!!
They have a very similar one at Kohl's. The logo is smaller and on the chest where a name tag would be.
The guy should've responded "As you wish!" And whipped it off!
Ha ha ha.
I swear, I saw a sign in a restaurant the other day advertising a BMT sandwich, and all I could think of was a bacon, mutton and tomato.
