if our family has a ADR at crystal palace for 8am and the magic kingdom opens say at 8am how early are we allowed in the magic kingdom at.
now question 2
what if the magic kingdom opens at 9am and we still have our ADR at 8am what time are we allowed in at?

We have the same "issue" on our upcoming trip. From what I've heard on these boards, they will let you in 10-15 minutes early.

Regardless of what time the MK opens to the public, you are allowed in about 15 minutes before your ADR time

thank you i know some people have been saying you can get a few really nice pics with hardly no one there...... I also heard it is get in got to resturant... hoping to get a great family pic at this since it will be DS(5) 1st time in the kingdom and will be his 5th birthday as well......

We have had early ADR in the park before at the castle and were able to walk right in by telling them at the gate. We also have stopped on the way for pictures. Have fun!

If at all possible, I would make the ADR for 8am when the park opens at 9am. We had an ADR for 8:05, we got to take pictures in an empty park and we were done (seeing all characters, eating, and a bathroom trip) by about 9:10. So we were only a few minutes behind the rope drop crowd. This allowed for the best park touring. (Those first two hours, we just walked on basically any ride)

Personally, I wouldn't do an 8am ADR if the park opens at 8am...yes you might get in there to take a few pictures, but you would miss out on a great time to tour the park. FWIW, I would plan all our breakfast meals to either be about an hour before park opening OR more of a brunch time (for instance, AK had am EMH so we arrived for that then had Tusker House at 10:30).

thank you for the help but the 1st time we are going to the MK is DS 5th birthday so that is going to the 1st park and thought we would go there for breakfast and start the day if there is a 8am opening to the park then it happens but if it is a 9am start even better ADR will be for 8am if possible
