Current Fast Pass situation

The last time we were at Disney (Nov. 2011) the fast passes were not required to be used in the timeframe given on the fast pass. You could not use them earlier than the stated time, but they allowed you to use them later than the window. I believe that has changed. Are they now strict on the fast pass window? Is that the only change?

And I keep reading about Fast Pass + but I am going next week so I don't think this will affect me, right?

Can someone please explain the current FP situation to me? I have tried searching, but it confuses me even more. Thanks in advance!

As of yesterday you could still get FP the old way. But they do enforce the time window now. You have to go with in the hours posted on the FP.

Personally I think it makes sense. The FP lines were now that you are basically able to walk right in at your time. It allows them to control the flow of people more.

Yes, they are strictly enforcing fastpass return times. This has been since March 2012 (we were there during this change). That is the only change that I am aware of. I don't believe FP+ will affect your trip next week since rumors are that it is to start at the end of February for people staying at the Boardwalk.

Currently there is nothing "new" to it with the exception of the return time. They are absolutely enforcing the window and you won't be allowed in even a couple minutes after your pass expired.

Rumor is it will start to be rolled out in February with guests staying at Beach Club.

I had heard it could be the end of January, so the timeline is right. But I'll take FP enforcement over the FP+ experiment any day. And I'm not that thrilled about FP enforcement, if that gives you any idea........

Similar rumors floated around WDW for years before it actually happened. So while it may be coming, I think it's really tough to tell when that actually may be.
