I hear everyone talk about the zebra domes and not to miss having them.
But what are they???

Zebra Domes are little bits of mush. They are a cake type thing with coffee and some type of alcoholic liqueur flavoring. Didn't care for them at all, texture or flavor wise.

Gross. I never understood what the hype was over those things. You don't hear much about them anymore like you did a few years ago -- those and the soups were all anyone talked about..

1) I have to agree.
2) The Zebra Domes never impressed me.
3) I think the idea of eating booze-infused bsakery goods was overrated.
4) However, the soups are pretty darn good.
. . . 15 different soups
. . . soups are rotated throughout the week
. . . 5 served on any given day

I thought the bread pudding at Boma was much better than the zebra domes. I wasn't a fan of them either.

I'm in the Zebra Dome fan group! They are awesomely delicious! They are like a mouse-ish substance on top of sponge cake, but the texture didn't bother me. They're not really mushy. They're firm, like they were chilled or such. I do also love the bread pudding at Boma!

And for the record, I love the lentil soup!

I also think the zebra domes are just ok. I can take em or leave em.

The first time I tried them I did not care for them but the next trip I tried again and loved them!

I have also tried them several times and I do not like them.

I want to like them, they are so cute.

:goodvibes

They are very good, but can only be found at Boma (dinner) and at Mara (to go). They're kind of like mousse (lightly Kahlua flavored) over a sponge cake. Very yummy!

technically, i think it's amarula.

i like them but prefer other desserts at boma. worth a shot, though.

I wanted to like them, but I don't like coffee or liquor flavor in my desserts.

And FYI-they do have alcohol in them, but it is a very small amount. I felt comfortable with my 3 year old trying one (he didn't like it though)

Now, instead of a Zebra dome...they should make a fancy version of a Little Debbie zebra cake...my DH and DS would make a special trip to AKL for that :rotfl2:

We love zebra domes. But they should sell them one at a time rather than packages of five They are really rich.

I was really excited to try them but was honestly really disappointed. I did not care for the liqueur flavour at all.

according to the Disney recipe they sent me a couple of years ago, there is approximately 1/4 ounce of Kahlua liqueur in each Zebra dome. It is added after the cooking so it does not cook down at all, and since it is under the waxy-like icing it does not evaporate either. There is a warning label in front of the desserts so people can choose whether or not to allow their children to eat Zebra domes. Last time I was there, the kid in front of me (about a 10 yr. old) had a 1/2 dozen of them piled on a dinner plate...I wondered if his parents realized he would be consuming 1.5 ounces of kahlua if he actually ate all those (not to mention way too much sugar, lol.)

The bread pudding is our preferred dessert there...with the rum sauce. And yes, it also really has rum in it (and a warning that it contains alcohol.)

Ah Ha! That is why they taste soo good - it's Kahlua!

I was so excited to try the infamous zebra domes on our last trip, but I was sadly disappointed in them. Didn't care for the texture, and I especially didn't like the taste. I'm not a fan. At all. But...you never know until you try something.
