Planning a trip to Southern California this spring. We will be flying into and out of San Diego; arriving early Saturday morning and leaving eary the following Sunday morning.

Here's our plan so far:
Saturday, Sunday, Monday in San Diego. Leave Monday night and arrive in Anaheim. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at Disneyland. We are thinking about doing some stuff in LA on Friday and Saturday but don't really know what. I want to do the Science Center, pretty much solely to see the space shuttle. I was also thinking about the La Brea tarpits. Maybe Santa Monica too?? Any ideas for us? We have 3 kids, ages 1-7.

Thanks!

Where are staying in LA? Location may determine recommendations due to traffic patterns in LA. Also do you have kids traveling with you and have you been there before?

Sorry, just saw the kids part. Science Center is cool, Long Beach aquarium and Queen Mary also fun. What things will you be doing in San Diego?

Keep in mind that depending on your actual days fireworks may be Fri, Sat, Sun at DL. Hours during the week are usually shorter too, so just make sure you have enough time to see everything on your must do list. There have been several people post about the science center- good info, you just need to find it- pretty recent threads :)

Not sure where we would stay...depends on what we decide we want to do.

We probably will drive down to San Diego Saturday night since our flight is early Sunday morning.

Definitely the zoo, the beach, maybe the USS Midway (unless we do the USS Iowa in the LA area).

Thanks for the information about the fireworks. I'm not too concerned about missing them. We often don't watch them at Disney World.

We were thinking about maybe going to La Brea tar pits also...is that near the science center?

The Tar Pits are decently close to the Science Center. If you're in LA definitely check out The Grove and Farmers Market.

Also keep in mind, a lot of stereotypical Hollywood stuff is closed on the weekend, so if you were interested in seeing any of the studios make sure you plan it for a week day.
