My DD loves the cheddar cheese soup at Le Cellier. Last time we went wo WDW we couldn't afford to go to Le Cellier, but I said that next time we would try to go. With the new 2 credit TS at lunch, the restaurant entrees are just too expensive for 4 of us. I thought about just going for soup and dessert, but my DS doesn't eat cheese at all and the new menu changed the dessert that my DD and DS loved. Would it be weird to go and just eat soup, pay cash for the soup and leave a tip related to the amount of the bill we paid and leave? I know WCC used to have cheddar soup, but it doesn't any more. Anyone know where I could a restaurant with cheddar soup anywhere in Orlando (that's not super expensive). Tips?

Big River at the Boardwalk has it. I have never had it but we like the food there. I don't think it is too expensive. No where near LC!

Biergarten has a cheddar bier soup that is very good.

But this is not guaranteed, the soups change, one time I was there it was potato leek soup, one time it was cauliflower.

OP- It probably wouldn't be a big problem to go and just get soup and maybe have other things like shared appys/dessert. You used to be able to get the soup to go but I don't think you can anymore but it probably wouldn't hurt to ask. They do have it at the Food and Wine Festival but of course you'd have to be there in the fall for that.

Y'all are great. This at least gives me options for my DD. I really didn't want to have to disappoint her. You are the best!pixiedust::wave2::goodvibes:worship:

We have an early lunch reservation at Le Cellier in March. We considered cancelling it, but decided we'll keep it and go just for soup and breadsticks and pay OOP (we're on the dining plan). We pushed our dinner reservation back to 8pm and then we'll still have a lunch CS meal we can use if we want to grab a sandwich mid-day.

. . . Cheddar cheese soup? Only Le Cellier? . . .

1) Officially, there are several places with "Cheese Soup".
2) But, the Canadian Cheese Soup is unique.
3) Other cheese soups do not taste the same as in Canada.
4) So, if you want this special taste, Le Cellier is the only place. *

* During the F&W Festival, they so serve it at the kiosk as a snack.

We really enjoyed the beer cheese soup at Big River. We've gotten it several times and have never been disappointed.:)

I've had the beer cheese soup at Big River Grill and its not anywhere as good as Le Celliers cheese soup. It has relish in it and a different taste. Go for the real stuff!

Here's a question I've never thought about but honestly don't know the answer to - can you get take out from any WDW restaurants? I would love to get a cup of this soup to go and take it back to my room or something. I'm assuming no, since I've never seen this as an option but now I'm curious!

No. Disney restaurants (and kitchens) are not set up for take out food. The one exception I am aware of is the ESPN Club at the Boardwalk. I also read here that they charged the 18% gratuity to the order.
That said, there are scattered reports here of folks who have on occasion had success. They received some pixie dust, and a CM who could help them. But you certainly can not count on it.

Exactly! Big River Grill's beer cheese soup by no means resembles Le Cellier!

I have no issue, even if my server may, in ordering a bowl of soup each, perhaps an appetizer and/or just a dessert to go with, for lunch! We don't eat a big meal at lunch! As for dinner, we always split an entree and and add the soup and dessert or appetizer!

Thanks for the reply. That's interesting. I wonder what it would take for them to be set up for this? We know they already have the boxes for the food. I wonder why you can't just place a take out order through the hostess or the bar and then wait like you normally would? Might control the ADR madness too! :confused3

I guess I know what we HAVE to try. We had ADR for lunch in March.. I can't wait now!!

That would clog up the entrance and put a strain on the kitchen.

We've never been to Le Cellier, but made the soup with the recipe from the Food & wine festival cookbook. It was awesome! So glad I learned about it on here:goodvibes
