"magical moments" on the ships! Did you get one? Here is ours...

I just got off of Wonder On Monday. First off, I wanted to share how special the Wonder is to us. My husband and I sailed on Wonder in 2000 for our honeymoon. We took our kids on Dream twice last year. But, this cruise on Wonder was just for hubby and I. We wanted to go back to Our Magical Place all these years later.
I wanted to share a once in a lifetime Magical Moment that happened to my husband and I. I know all you Disney lovers would appreciate it. My husband and I were standing on deck just above the fly-bridge during sail away from Nassau. As the ship started to move away from the dock, I jokingly yelled down to the captain asking when he was going to blow the horn. He put up one finger to say hold on. Then he had one of the officers come and invite us down to the bridge. I thought he was going to let us watch the sail away from there and I was just in awe at that. Then he told me to go into the bridge and push the button to blast the horn. Needless to say, I had tears running down my face and a smile as big as Texas as I pushed the Mickey shaped button and "When you wish upon a star" rang out. We were able to snap a picture in the bridge and with Capt. Fabian. I thanked him profusely. It was something I will never forget!

Yay!!!! So super cool!!!!

These kind of moments are exactly why we love DCL and WDW in general. We have never been on a trip, either on land or sea, where we did not get some pixie dust. Some have been bigger than others, but they were all special.

Disney CM's really do try to go above and beyond.

As we are gearing up to leave for our B2B's on the Wonder, I've been reminiscing of all the amazing, magical things that happened on our first 2 cruises. A few of my favorite moments:
-seeing our Palo server, Selcuk in Beach Blanket at lunch one day- cleaning and helping guests. Such a friendly guy, he made everyone in Beach Blanket feel just as special as if they had been dining in Palo. My kids had no idea who this funny guy was, but he promised them SOUFFLE from Palo- and did indeed send some back for them the next night after our Palo dinner. We saw him again in Cabo and he stopped and spent quite some time telling us where to eat etc. Can't wait to see him again in 35 days!!
-Winning the Mickey 200 race! I'm pretty sure that we didn't actually win but I could tell the 2 girls running it LOVED our team name and they kept making sure we were in round after round... only to be declared the winner!
-Having a huge pod of dolphins outside our verandah on the morning of my birthday. How very Disney- to arrange for DOLPHINS to wish me a Happy Birthday!

What an awesome moment that must have been. Capt Fabian is the best. We took our picture with him on Formal night and had a nice quick conversation. A couple of days later we passed by him and he remembered who we were and what we talked about and took the time to speak with us again and see how things were going.

I have nothing to compare to some of the really wonderful stories that have been posted, but the great thing about Pixie Dust is that it comes in all sizes: large, small, and in-between!

We had the Cruise of a Lifetime when we did the Amazing, Wonderful, Absolutely Stunning, Westbound TransAtlantic Crossing in September of 2010. We were late getting to the Sail Away party, and went up the forward stairway to Deck 10 in order to search out a possible vantage point as most of the good places had already been staked out. We had just walked through the doors when we realized that this was where the Disney characters gathered before they went on stage for the show. Well, we started to back out, afraid that we were interfering, when Goofy turned and saw us and literally sprinted across the ship to where we were and grabbed me in a great, big hug! I'm a BIG Goofy fan (and you can read that any way you want), so my heart immediately melted, and the rest of the cruise was just magical. He could have waved. He could have ignored us. He could have said "hi!", but he ran across to greet us as if we were his greatest friends (instead of his biggest fans)! That's Pixie Dust!

Later that same cruise, we got the chance to stand and chat with any or all of the princesses and have our pictures taken. Being a guy, I generally hung back to let the little (and not so little!) girls be with the princesses, but I saw an opening, and went up and chatted with Belle. I said "I wanted to speak to you, because we have something in common!"

She looked surprised, and said, "What's that?"

I replied, "We both love books!" and it was as if I'd turned on a tap! We stood and chatted about books, and what books we loved, and why, and I'm sure everyone around us was wondering what this 60-something guy was chatting about with Belle! She could have nodded and smiled, but she was truly engaged – and engaging! Pixie Dust!

And throughout that 14 day cruise, we had the unmitigated luck to have befriended another guest named Jason, whom we met in the Barcelona terminal before boarding. In normal life, he was a hard-bitten, bottom-line driven, software security consultant from northern England, but on this cruise, he really let his inner self out. He became Peter and Tink's best friend. He was in every line for every photo. He smiled at every person he met, and laughed and joked with everyone. The princesses lined up to have their pictures taken with HIM, and they all knew his name! He was everything anyone with a heart wanted to be on a Disney cruise, and he LOVED it! And we all envied him - but not one of us had a bad thought or word for him, because he made everyone who was in his presence feel as if they were the greatest person in the world.

He got much, MUCH more than his money's worth, because he knew the value of Pixie Dust!

And the lesson I took from Jason is: Pixie dust doesn't just come from CMs, but, if they're smart, from guests, too!

We were paired with another family last year for dining...they have become our extended family from Canada and next year, we will embark on our third cruise together.

While on the Fantasy last week, I had indicated through reservations that my husband and I were celebrating our 24th anniversary. At dinner, the crew gathered around and presented us with a cake and song...lovely except for one tiny thing. We had switched our seating and I was sitting next to not my husband, the other husband in our party. Imagine our laughter when the crew chanted, "kiss, kiss!"...we just grinned and I gave him a peck on the cheek. We found the entire thing hilariously funny and yet another great story to add to our "books"...the crew spent the rest of the cruise pointing out to us that they knew who went "with" who!

We have had so many magical moments on our cruises with Disney and we often say that there is no way that we will top the servers that we have on each cruise, but this summer I would have to say Didi and Christina on the Wonder are by far our favourites.

They made origami for our kids everyday, had all of our drinks waiting for us at each of the seats that we sat in. They were so funny and one time after finishing dinner when I was asked what I wanted for dessert I told Didi "Oh nothing for me thanks." Well everyone got their desserts and Didi puts a plate down in front of me that is covered in Mickey sprinkles and whipped cream and in chocolate sauce is written the word "Nothing". I love those two so much.

The moment though that I want to write about is partially mine, but mostly someone elses. It was after one of our fantastic dinners, we always closed the restaurant because we love to sit and chat and goof off with our servers. The time had to be around 10:30-11:00 and the DH and I on our way to the room bumped into Snow White, who is obviously heading in for the night. Well my hubby started to joke with her asking her where the dwarves were and that if she needed grumpy she could enlist me. Well Snow was quick and responded "Oh no she most definitely would be Happy if she was to fill in." I smiled and said thank you and then took a few shots of DH with Snow.

Enter little girl who has just spotted Snow down the hall and now toddles/tears down the hallway as happy as can be. She steps up close to Snow and pulls on her skirt. DH quickly moves so the little girl can have her moment and doesn't Snow White get right down on the floor with the little girl and gives her a hug and proceeds to spend about 10-15 minutes recounting the girl's entire trip. When another little girl comes by she invites the other little girl over gives her a hug and then proceeds to chat with both of them. We were probably there for about 30 minutes watching Snow with 2 little girls and it was the sweetest thing I have seen on Disney.

I never really had a favourite princess but I think I have to say Snow White is now the one.

We were on the Dream last February, and to my surpise, my 8yo DD was really into meeting the characters. We were on our way to get in line to meet Captain Mickey, and all of a sudden we heard a commotion behind us. We turned around and Mickey and his entourage were walking toward us. Without missing a beat, Mickey put his arm around DD and regally escorted her to the line. It was such a great moment, and DD was ecstatic! I ran ahead a bit and got this photo:

We had a couple on our last cruise, DD first cruise

-We had just finished lunch and were ready to see our cabin, DD was really excited and walking about 10 feet in front of us, just as she turned around the corner to our cabin, she stood there looking down the hall in complete shock, we had no idea why, but, she went from been shock to having the biggest smile, two seconds later Goofy appears and hugs her and then he starts goofying (lol) around with her, plays with her, poses for pictures, gives her another big hug and goes away. We had been on the Dream for 45 minutes and DD got a one on one time with Goofy for at least 5 minutes... When he leaves, she turns around to DH and says ... Daddy, Disney Cruise Line is a dream come true

- After that fabulous experience, we went to check out our cabin, then we decide to head to the Sail Away party, as the elevator door opens out comes Daisy who also hugs her, you can just imagine the look on her face, Daisy also spends a couple of minutes with DD, then she grabs DD hand and heads down the hallway, there was a girl there playing an Ukelele and Daisy starts to dance with DD. Needless to say, DD was having the time of her life and I was crying tears of joy

- On our last day, we left DD at the Oceaneers club and headed to Palo for dinner, after dinner we saw the princesses doing the farewell in the Atrium. So, we head to the club to pick up DD and as we approach the entrance, we see DD playing and laughing, but, we could not see who she was playing with, we tell the CM that we were there to pick DD as we point to her and she looks andme and ask me if I was sure I wanted to pick her up, then I notice who DD is playing with, she was playing with Tinkerbell, just her and Tink I look at the CM and she is waving goodbye to us, we don't need to say anything to her and just walk away with a huge smile on our faces. How can we take DD away when she is spending some quality time with Tink

This was all during a 3 day cruise... Needless to say, we are seriously considering going on the 14 day transatlantic...
