:rotfl2::rotfl2::thumbsup2. Yes, I must admit I too have been known to artfully conceal a drinky poo in my mug to bring to pool, or to smuggle out one of those yummy Grand Marnier slushies out the Epcot WS gate ::yes:: shhhhhhh don't tell the Dragon who guards the gate ;)

Too bad we will miss ya at FQ. We check in 1 week from today.

You won't miss us if you forget to check out and just stay until we get there! ;) Have a great trip and warm up the pool for us!

We are currently booked for GF for next month but think I am going to call and switch to BC today. I was really hoping the pool would open at the GF but the opening date is just getting later and later.

What time does SAB close, I thought I read somewhere that it was going to be the same hours everyday eventually?? Also I noticed that the kiddie slide is going under rehab the feb 12-18, are they usually pretty accurate on their dates?? I've lost hope in rehab dates after the GF (the pool was supposed to be done in DEC). Also I know breakfast is limited but they still have room service right.

Thanks so much, I'm just in a bit of a panic at this point, but think I'm going to be a GF runaway too :)

We LOVE runaways! Velkomin!

Attention July travelers:

On the off chance I may have to change our usual May dates to July, how much busier do you think it will be this year compared to the past years? (New Fantasyland) I was looking at a crowd chart, and it seems like the last week of July has a much higher number everyday then when we went in July of 2010.

I hope it doesn't happen, but our schools are letting out a week later than usual and it may collide with soccer.

I just booked my first say at the Beach Club. We have stayed at the Poly several times, and really love it (my son loves to see the fireworks over the castle). We wanted to try something different. We visited the Beach Club for the first time in December to go to Cape May (my new favorite place to eat at WDW). The Beach Club pool looks GREAT!! My DS8 and DS6 will love it. We think being so close to Epcot and DS will be good.

This might sound silly, but my biggest concern about staying there is the shortage of QS breakfast options. My sons both love getting Mickey waffles for breakfast (which isn't available at the Beach Club QS), and DS8 is a picky eater and has very little "breakfast" food he will eat. He will eat chicken nuggets for breakfast before school, which is fine with me because at least he ate before school. We have reservations for breakfast at the Captain's Grille for the days we are not going to a park (so they can get their beloved Mickey waffles), but don't want to spend that kind of time on a park day for breakfast.

What does everyone think about the breakfast options there? Does the QS have really good baked goods in the morning (the ones at the Poly were not very good)? Do they have lunch type foods in the pre-made selections available in the morning? I appreciate everyone's advice.:goodvibes

You should know that the QS place at the France Pavilion in Epcot will be open for breakfast if it is pastry you are looking for for breakfast!

Just booked 5 nights at the BC club level for our end of Sept food and wine trip! We will have our new born with us who will be a couple of months old, can't wait. MIL will be joining to help with the new baby!

Congrats on the baby lady!!!

We're hoping to do July too, we've been this time of year a few times because of school and I've just remembered its tour group time then! :scared1:

Congratulations on the new baby! What are the chances of one of your fantastic dining reviews?

Just wanted to echo all the previous suggestions - between groceries at BC Marketplace, CS at BC Marketplace, the expansive breakfast options at Picabu just a 10-minute walk away, the Boardwalk Bakery (or its temporary substitute), and TS at Captain's Grille or Cape May, I think breakfast should be fine. We love Poly and Captain Cook's is my favorite resort CS, but BC Marketplace comes in second and the Epcot area resorts have a ton of different choices.

I haven't seen pre-made lunch stuff out at breakfast, other than the lunchables, etc. in the grocery case. When we're not staying CL and don't have a breakfast ADR, even our pickiest eater found plenty to eat between bagels, donuts, pastries, cereals and fruit. If you haven't seen the BC Marketplace photo thread I put together, it might give you a sense of the wide variety there: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3007564

Hi everyone :wave2: I'm new to the YC/BC world but I've been busy reading this thread today in an effort to catch up. My eldest daughter is graduating from high school this year:banana: and she has chosen a Disney vacation as her present! We're driving down to save some costs (and aggravation) and originally decided on a split stay with 5 nights at the Dolphin and 5 nights BWI CL. Our last trip we stayed at the BWI and loved it, so that's all fine but....when I added up the price of the room at the dolphin, plus tax, plus resort fee, plus parking it looked like we could stay in a standard view at a deluxe for the same amount assuming AAA discount (for now - hoping for some Disney discount in the future :surfweb:). We wanted to stay somewhere we've never stayed before and so, voila, we though YC or BC (love the Epcot area). So, here's my question, and I'm sorry I'm so long-winded: which resort has the better standard view? Or the least crappy standard view. The decor of both appeal to us so that doesn't matter too much, but a balcony is always nice as long as it's not on top of a rooftop AC unit or something. Any suggestions, or persuasions, all opinions welcome !!! Thanks.

OK, here's what I think I'm going to do.

I have a description of the 3 view categories in the FAQ Section on Page 1. I don't have any pictures, depicting the actual views you may have from your room, so I think I will put up a couple of samples- maybe an awesome view, a nice view and the worst view I can find for each of the categories.

I have been "collecting" some views for awhile, so I need to take a look to see what I have- I may be asking for your help if I need a particular view.

For now, if you have what you consider a "horrendous" view for the category, for example:

Standard- overlooking a dumpster or air conditioning unit

Garden View- trees or other foliage in desperate need of a pruning

Water View- peek-a-boo view of water

please email me at beachclubdee@yahoo.com

Recent pictures only, since the reclassification in view category: 1/1/2011

Hee hee. No help from me. I will forever refuse to admit I've ever had a bad view at Disney. (I know, this perspective bugs my husband but I think there is part of him that appreciates it.) We were immediately above the WL trash cans . . . but could see the MK fireworks at night. We had that unpruned broken twig/green stuff in front of us at BC . . . but I could see and hear Illuminations and was really close to the secret entrance. I should stop talking about this, or I'm going to end up with a REAL bad view at Poly and BWI that even I can't defend! :)

I'd be glad to grab some shots from our YC SV CL view....I admit to being a little nervous :scared: but we don't spend a lot of time on the balcony....

I'll try to get a lot of lounge pics too!!! :thumbsup2

Wow, I love that idea of collecting the best and worst of the views! And dumpsters below but a view of fireworks is not the most terrible I would think. I don't like to look down so much, so I'm thinking straight out view...DH and I are sharing a room with 3 teenage girls and once? in a while will need to escape the mania so it would be nice to know that what we're briefly escaping to is not as bad as the chaos within the room...
I guess I'm looking for the odds - BC vs YC what are the odds that a standard view room will more or less "acceptable", in the lottery of life or Disney room assignment, take your pick...

You are the best! Love how you never stop thinking up new info to add. And love that you have a stash of pictures that you are trying to find a home for. :thumbsup2

congrats on booking your stay at BC!!! You're gonna fall in love.

We used the QS breakfast most morning at BC and found there was plenty to choose from. I usually had a bagel, DD had some type of danish, DH had a breakfast sandwich (I think??)

You always have the option of purchasing cereal and milk right there in the gift shop/QS shop. Also, pop tarts (and they do have a toaster to use), muffins, prepackaged donuts.....heck there is even bread if he wants toast. While not breakfast food, I believe I saw lunchables in the cold section (check out some of the pics of what the store has to sell). We have even used Garden Grocer and had granola bars, muffins etc delivered to our room to used for breakfast on some mornings.

Depending on the day, we do sometimes head straight to the park and grab a baked good for breakfast when we arrive (never could pass up a cinnamon roll or cherry turnover on Main Street) and now with the Nutella and fruit waffles at Sleepy Hollow...........I'm in heaven!!!

I too don't like to spend much of my morning on a table service breakfast (way to excited to get to the parks.............ahem, I mean my kids are way to excited to get to the parks :rolleyes1), but the Captains Grill is a great alternative on a few of the mornings.

Have a fantastic time planning! And do remember to spend time enjoying the resort.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I might have to bring some extra snacks for DS8. Is the service at Captians Grille very slow, or can we get done in less than an hour?

I have starting reading this thread (up to page 10 so far) and I am very impressed!!! I love how the group has gotten together, and formed relationships with CMs. The pool noodles made me laugh:lmao:

I look forward to reading more!

YC has all full balconies. I'd go with the garden view though at either YC or BC, it's only about $5 more per night.

Question for BC experts-

We're staying for the first time in April (woot!) and we are wondering about the best way to get into Epcot for rope drop. I've read in other places that by the time you walk from the BC all the way around World Showcase in the morning the lines are already long and you lose the whole 'arrive early' advantage. Thoughts? Is it worth a cab for the one day we want to hit the big attractions? We're excited to be able to walk to and from the BC for afternoon breaks, swimming, and World Showcase adventures, but we do want to hit rope drop once.

Thanks for the thoughts :)
