Breakfast: Crystal Palace or Grand Floridian Cafe?

Trying to decide between these two for a breakfast in April. We're staying at the Contemporary so either would be easy to get to. We are doing breakfast at Kona earlier in the trip. We have two young boys (1 and 2 years old) so the x-factor is how they will respond to characters. We just don't know at this point. My wife loves the Grand Floridian but getting into the MK early would be cool. What are your thoughts?

We love Crystal Palace breakfast and always make a pre park opening ADR there. The food is really good and they have a nice selection too (love the Pooh's Puff Pastry :goodvibes). DH really likes the make to order omelet bar that they have. If you think that your kids might be o.k. with eating with Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore, then I would suggest eating there. Also if you can get an ADR for before the park opens, there are so many wonderful photo ops that are available with not a lot of people around.

We have never eaten at Grand Floridian Cafe so I really can't comment on it unfortunately. Good luck deciding.

CP is one of my fave character breakfasts!! Love the characters, theyre super sweet and really interact with you....and the food, omg the food is good. Looove the made-to-order-eggs/omlette station (you get the choc.chip pancakes from here), pooh's puffed french toast, and my personal fave the breakfast lasagna. DELISH! I highly recommend it. :thumbsup2

But in all honestly, theyre both great choices. cant go wrong with either.

Grand Floridian Cafe is not a character meal nor is it a buffet type setting. The food is great there but the kids may prefer Crystal Palace. I eat there everytime I go.

They are so totally different.

A compromise might be 1900 PF? It is at the Grand Floridian and has characters but mostly face characters (Alice, Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins) with Pooh & Tigger thrown in. So it would be pretty easy to avoid Pooh & Tigger if your kids are scared. It has an omelette station, etc.

Is there any place local you can "test" how your kids react to characters? I know we went to the Aqaurium which has a mascot and DS was good with the mascot, so I knew we would be fine.

I agree, 1900 Park Fare would be a great compromise, especially if your DW wants to go to the GF. 1900 Park Fare is another character breakfast that my family really enjoys :goodvibes.

Another :thumbsup2 for 1900 PF breakfast. If given the choice I'd go there before I'd go to CP, but that's a matter of preference. I think the food is better at 1900 PF. Now GF, like other posters mentioned, "night" and "day", totally different experiences.

ALSO, I think 1900 PF is a good "introduction" to the characters for your little ones. They are all "face" characters in the morning (although sometimes Pooh characters may be there). Most recently Mary Poppins, Bert, Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter seem to be present. My dd had a major issue with "snoot" characters (ie. Pluto, Goofy, Tigger, etc) but she was fine with "face" characters, their less intimidating. The Mad Hatter can be a "tiny" bit intimidating (my dd didn't like him at first LOL!) But he was ok after a while, he can be annoying to adults too LOL!;)
