TS favorites you can get at CS?

Is there a thread on this? I know I've read posts about certain items you can get for much less by ordering from the CS counterpart to different TS restaurants.

Oh what a great topic!

You can get Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks (QS at the Poly)

Terri

At Fresh at the Dolphin (breakfast), we were able to get a grilled cheese for our dd who was quite picky at the time.:thumbsup2 I believe the server said he was able to get it from the Dolphin Fountain, but it was served up nicely.

Although not from a CS, when dd was younger we were also able to get her a grilled cheese at O'Hana's dinner. (from Kona) Although Kona is not a CS restaurant they were still able to order any kids menu item from there that was on the kid's menu.:thumbsup2

I know this is going back a ways but I believe if the kitchen is "shared" or close they have that option. We also did this one at AP and we were able to get kid's items from WCC. Now as far as the regular menu, not sure.:confused3 I think it will really depend on the specific restaurant.

Sometimes you can get the grapefruit cake from the HBD at Starring Rolls. It does depend on how busy the HBD is, so it's not always possible.

I just saw something about this! I'll have to look out for it.

I also remember clam chowder at CHH and LTT are the same. Only difference is that it's a couple dollars cheaper at CHH.

The butternut squash soup that's on the buffet at Boma is available at Mara-also, the zebra domes.

Ahhh! That is one of the things on my list of must try, but haven't had the time yet. Thanks for the info! Is it exactly the same?

I have heard it does not come with the strawberry compote at Capt Cook's, but is otherwise the same.

thr fish and chips at the rose and crown are available CS (though the CS is better known for them). The lobster bisque in chefs vs. boulangeri? Soups at BOG,

a similar thought- lounges that share a kitchen (ingredients and chefs) with a rest...Crew cup lounge at YC shares with yachtsmans steakhouse for example...Bluezoo has a lounge menu that is quite reasonable compared to the retraunt menu

Are you looking for anything in particular?

I'm not really looking for a particular item. I'm planning an October trip, and I'm trying to plan for FD or not scenarios since there is so much speculation that it might not happen this year. I thought this might be a good way to save a few bucks if we're paying OOP. This trip is for 5 disney adults and 1 child, so FD will have a huge impact for us.

Smart! Well, a lot of resorts have full service food in their QS dining (like Animal Kingdom Lodge as someone previously posted). Also, if you are going in October, the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is in full swing, so they have a ton of different types of food there. It is my favorite time to visit the world. You can go around and try the different types of foods. I went with three other people, and we all bought different things and sampled everything! It was a blast! And you can get a "passport" that you can get stamped at every location and it has all the foods (I draw Mickey heads next to my favorite dishes!). You don't need to spend a ton of money, and they have gift cards that they sell especially for this event that you can wear around your wrist. Better than any full service restaurant if you ask me! You should try to check it out when you are there!!! Enjoy your trip!
