Hi!
Bringing a 5 year old and 4 year old to Disney in the summer. Taking ME from airport to FT Wilderness. In Canada a child is still required to be in a car seat until they reach 40 lbs. I am not planning on bringing car seats at all. Can they take the Magical Express without one?
Thanks!

Yes.. there are seatbelts on the ME so we just had them strapped into the seat for the ride.

It's also required until 40lbs here but on public transportation it's not a law to need a carseat. My kids are all still in 5 point harnesses and I hate letting them just sit in the seat on ME or even on the school bus, looks so unsafe because I'm used to seeing them in their carseat, lol.

I have read that some of the ME buses have seatbelts, but that doesn't really mean you're supposed to use them for carseats. Usually coach buses and public transport do not have seatbelts, and therefore you don't use carseats while riding them.

I wouldn't even use the seat belts on ME--I buckled our six year old in, but the belt went right across his neck, which honestly worried me more than the thought of him not being belted in. He was fine without it.:)

When we rode ME last year (October 2011), it was a large charter bus and there were no seatbelts on the bus, so no carseats. Some of the busses may have seatbelts, but as far as I know, Florida law does NOT require carseats on public transportation.

This is why we rented a limo -- we needed our 1 year old to be in a car seat!

I sat with her on my lap for our 2.5 hour plane ride, I could do it for another hour or so on the ME!

when we used ME when DS was 18 months, we didn't have a car seat. No one mentioned using one when we boarded.

I've never been on a ME bus that had seatbelts.

Carseats are not allowed on the ME buses, even on the very rare bus that has seatbelts. Carseats go underneath with the luggage.

We only just noticed the seatbelts on the ME buses on our last trip. Not sure if they are newer buses but we had a seatbelt one both coming and going to the airport.

Those are the newer buses. We had one too on our last trip. Did you notice they don't have the stairs of death anymore? Much more gradual steps.
