If a petition for the creation of a Russian pavilion were made, would there be interest in signing it?

I would sign any petition that would bring any new pavilion to Epcot and something other than another restaurant.

Interest in signing it? Sure. Would Disney care? not really.

There would be many more signatures on a petition to bring back the good version of Journey into Imagination at Epcot, or the Peoplemover at DL but neither of those things are happening.

In addition to that, I think Disney would prefer to have involvement with a country's government that isn't in a less than suitable situation. The recent ban from Americans adopting russian children is not a good sign.

Yes anything new for Epcot. In reality Epcot will get the shaft minus TT2, with mk fle, DAk avatar and dhs will get cars land, starwars land.

All those pavilions were put up using sponsor money. If its going to get done a russian sponsor (or 2 or 3) would have to step up.

All that is needed is a country or organization that would be willing to accept a ten year sponsorship with the willingness and resources to defray most of the cost of construction and operations.

I welcome more pavillions, but would like something not as similiar to Europe. I'd love to see more Central/South American countries, Egypt, etc.

Ahh, what's the use? Everybody in the world hates us, even though we send them tons of money. :worried:

Plus all our signatures on the petition? :confused3

Kidding.

The original World Showcase pavilions were not "put up using sponsor money."

The original pavilions were put up by Disney, but many had "participants" that paid rent or promotional fees, such as the restaurants in France and Mexico or beverage companies whose products are featured in Germany, Italy, and other pavilions. Notably, China and Canada had no "participants" at all. The Morocco and Norway pavilions had more financial support, but Norway has now long been without such support.

Yesterland had an article about this subject: http://www.yesterland.com/worldshowcase.html

It seems that until there are plans for a new World Showcase pavilion that can pay its own way and add to the corporate bottom line, we're not going to see new countries represented at World Showcase.

Generic Estimates, as of 2009:
. . . pavilion construction -- US$ 110million *
. . . ten year sponsorship operations -- US$ 15million **
. . . ten year sponsorship maintenance -- US$ 6million
. . . ten year sponsorship overhead -- US$ 15million

* Can be significantly lower or higher based upon designs and concepts.
