I've been reading all the reviews and looking at all the pictures, whenever a new one is added.

It has me so excited to start my live reporting. I'm driving my family nuts because I'm trying out the different settings on my phone for taking pictures in different lighting, so every meal we have I'm taking pictures of it.

This is an amazing thread and I'm thrilled I'm going to be part of it.

"Alex and I both had the filet. This is what Alex gets every time, so of course he loved it.
I did also, but it was a little overcooked, which is not normal for CG."

Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Goat Cheese Polenta, Roasted Mushrooms, Zinfandel Glaze, and Crispy Sage


"Tim had the pork tenderloin. He said (and I agree) that it was full of flavor and wonderful."

Robin said, "Desserts were just fabulous! I had the Valrhona Chocolate Cake with vanilla ice cream, instead of the flavor it was supposed to come with. Nothing goes better than vanilla in my book.
Perfection - absolutely the best dessert I've ever had, and I've had many!!!"

I have one more update to post this morning from yesterday. This one received last night from Lauren (Giselle22) and is her first of her trip.


She and her DMom arrived at Disney World yesterday and had their first Disney meal at...

Holiday Sandwich



Lauren said, "We knew we wanted dessert later, so we split a holiday sandwich. I was very excited to be able to try it as it was only supposed to be on the menu until Jan 6th! The sandwich has turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce,
spiced mayo (we asked for just a little of this), and gravy. It was delicious! We both loved it and decided we are going to cram all our Thanksgiving leftovers into sandwiches next year."

"We also shared some macaroni salad, which we also both enjoyed.
It wasn't too heavy on the mayo and had a sort of tangy flavor, like from pickle juice."






"After some window-shopping we went to Ghirardelli for dessert!
We shared a Mint Bliss sundae and loved every delicious bite!

Argh I'm so mad! We were in Epcot yesterday, and went right past France, but since I got several things from there the other day I decided not to stop- we never even went back to notice they were open

Lauren said, "Mom and I had breakfast at The Wave. We ordered sweet potato pancakes and spinach, feta, and tomato scrambled eggs and shared them. Everything was delicious! The maple pecan butter for the pancakes was really, really good. We were so hungry we dug in right away, until mom remembered that we needed pics!"

Robin said, "We really enjoyed this restaurant the first time and decided to go back. Now, the atmosphere is the main reason for the return visit, but the cupcakes were also a big factor!"

Grilled Steak Sandwich with garlic butter spread and pommes frites


Robin said, "This time I decided to try the steak sandwich. This was pretty good for a quick service. I asked the server for a side of Dijon mayo (comes on turkey sandwich) and she brought it to me in a small bowl...Tasty. The fries were OK."

Croque Monsieur - Grilled sandwich of carved ham, Gruyere cheese, and bechamel with Pommes Frites



"Tim had the Croque Monsieur. This was very good, I think the best of all entrees we tried. The whole grain bread was really good, and the carved ham and gruyere cheese were a great combo."

Braised Pork (Coq Au Vin style) - eight-hour slow-cooked pork with mushrooms, onions, carrots and bacon served with mashed potatoes and green beans jardiniere


"Alex chose the Braised Pork. This was extremely tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were good and the green beans nicely crisp. Very good!"






Robin said, "I think I'm gonna have to frame this picture..."

Triple Chocolate Cupcake
Chocolate sponge cake, chocolate mousse filling, and chocolate ganache



"Ahhh, the cupcakes. Alex and I had the chocolate again, and again they were perfectly delicious!!! I could eat a whole bowl of that icing. And the cake itself is so soft and light, filled with a whipped chocolate. A chocoholic's dream, or at least it's mine."

"Tim had the strawberry cupcake. I tasted this and it was very good. Not to much strawberry flavor, just right. It doesn't beat out my chocolate cupcake, but we both agreed it was very good."

Our next update was emailed to us by quietgirl.


She said, "So, for dinner Wed. night, I originally had Raglan Road booked, but we decided to go back to MK that night, so I had to look into something else. There were several places I had wanted to go this trip that hadn't "made the cut" so this seemed like a good time to revisit them. A logical choice would have been The Wave, since we were going to be right there, but looking at the menu that night, I couldn't find anything that appealed to me. Checking reservations online, I was super excited to find that CRT had a couple of openings- I'd never eaten in the castle, it's always booked, blah blah blah, and then I looked at the menu. Blech- we'd had such good food karma this trip, I didn't want to risk ruining it. The Turf Club Grill at Saratoga Springs had been a want of mine to try their lamb chops, but DGF found nothing on their menu that spoke to her. Finally, we decided that we would just eat at Boatwrights at POR. After all, the menu looked good, and it was PERFECTLY located! When you're full and tired, a 5 min trip to your room is way better than 50!"



BOATWRIGHT'S


"It was about 9:00 when we arrived at Boatwright's. I had made the reservation for 9:45 in case we stayed a little late at MK, or it took awhile to get back. I went ahead and checked in, and the hostess told me it would be just a few min.

I took that time to take a few pics..."

"And in mere moments she let us know our table was ready and seated us. I really liked the restaurant itself.
It was nicely decorated and well-themed."

"Melissa was our waitress, and she was fabulous! When she came over to get our drinks, I automatically ordered Sprite, and then she mentioned they have sweet tea. And I mean REAL sweet tea! She said because they are considered "southern" that's why they have it, and it's only available there and she thought one other place on property? Of course, at that point, I had to have it, so both DGF and I ordered sweet tea."

"It was wonderful! And a nice change from all the Sprite I had been drinking!"





"So Melissa also brought us out a basket of cornbread."

"I'm really not much of a bread person, and not a cornbread fan either, but this was delicious. It was moist and flavorful, and the butter was soft."





"I decided on the pork chop with cheesy grits and onion rings...

"And DGF went with the prime rib with potatoes.."

Slow-roasted Prime Rib with Red Wine Demi-glace and Horseradish sauce,

"I was actually torn between the pork chop and the prime rib, but since DGF was going to order the prime rib she promised I could try hers. These entrees were AMAZING! I can't say enough good things about them, I don't have the vocabulary! My pork chop was very tender, which was amazing since it was also incredibly thick!! The BBQ sauce on it was awesome, and did a great job of flavoring the meat. I was a little worried about the cheese grits- while I love grits, I consider those a breakfast item, but they were delicious and went great with the pork. The consistency and texture was just right. And the onion rings! Wow! Perfectly crispy, not greasy, and yummy!"





"DGF's prime rib was delicious as well. It was perfectly cooked, and flavor was amazing. The horseradish was a spicier horseradish, and I loved it too!! I did taste her potatoes, and thought they were great too. I just can't say enough great things about these entrees!!!"

"For dessert, I decided on the chocolate cake..."

"My chocolate cake was fantastic, very moist. I ate every bit of it- the splashes of cream and raspberry on the plate were great with it too! DGF didn't really like her creme brûlée- she said it was too butterscotchy- since I don't like creme brûlée or butterscotch, I didn't even taste this."

Also we received DonaldDoleWhip's final update from his December trip to the World. Oh, and we received an update from a surprise visitor to Disney World (and a previous live reporter), who said...

"I just landed in Orlando for a very last minute short trip. If you need a live reporter, I am more than willing to help out."

And then we received a few more updates from quietgirl, one of which includes more than 40 pictures from Epcot...most of them of menus! I am in awe!!!

Good morning everyone!

Are you ready for a Disney food-filled day of updates? I've got plenty of coffee made, my laptop and phone fully charged, and the 100 or so pics that I received last night downloaded. So let the Disney food fun begin!!!


Let's start with butiflfeet's update from last night from her dinner at...




KONA CAFE



"She said, "While we're waiting for Wishes to start we I thought I'd send you our dinner from tonight. We need to get to bed early for the half marathon tomorrow morning so fortunately we are staying at Bay Lake Tower and can watch from the Top of the World lounge and head to bed with Wishes is over. We had dinner at Kona Cafe so we were there twice today [they had breakfast there too]. We love it there! This is our first loaf of bread. Sorry I didn't get the picture in time. We tore into it right away. There are many advantages to carb loading."

"Then we split the pot stickers and a Luau California Roll."

Pot Stickers - wok-seared pork and vegetable dumplings with creamy ginger-soy sauce

California Luau Roll - jumbo lump crab, pineapple and avocado





"He we have our entrees. I had the sustainable fish of the day, which was mahi mahi. I substituted the forbidden rice [that normally comes with it] with white rice. The dish was excellent. Perfectly cooked fish and very yummy sauce."

"Last but not least is the cucumber roll my mom had.
This was fresh and made for an excellent light dinner for before the race!"
