Enterprise car rental at Port Canaveral?

Has anyone used Enterprise car rental at Port Canaveral? How far away from the port is the pick up location? Any problems?

We've used Budget in the past but in the past it has been a long wait at the port for the shuttle, and last summer we waited over an hour for our reserved car. They told us they didn't order enough cars. We had wait for one to be returned to their location, be cleaned, and then turned over to us. Frustrating. So I am looking for a calmer experience. Thanks.

I did a rental from Alamo being serviced by Enterprise too...so I'm subscribing to hear about this too :surfweb:

Last February we rented a car from Hertz at Port Canaveral before our cruise and another from Enterprise after the cruise...No Problems at all. :thumbsup2

However, Hertz is much closer...about maybe 5 minutes (2mi) from the port.
Enterprise is about 10 minutes (4mi) from the port.

I would say to go with which ever is most cost efficient...we had great service from both.

This year is are sticking to Hertz sine we're staying at the Country Inn which is right next to Hertz...it facilitates our commute a little.

:cutie:

We used Alamo last December to and from the port.
It was very easy dropping off the car and the shuttle was there waiting for us and we waited another 10 min before we left to the ship.

Getting off the ship there is a combinated line for more car rental services and that was stupid because when the Enterprice bus came they needed people to step out of the line to go to the bus.
But that's not something Enterprice arranged that's something arranged by the port.

Picking up the car was a breeze and they had plenty of cars there. No problems at all and would do it in a heartbeat again.

Hertz is closer but normally Alamo/National are cheaper then Hertz...

the Enterprise office is 1.25 miles south on A1A from the Budget office - same (only) road.

Enterprise also services Alamo and National according to their web sites, altho only the Enterprise name is on the building and all but one of their 3 buses. One bus has all 3 names on it (last time I drove by anyway ... I'm usually by every weekend exercising my Mini)

Note - all the rental offices in Canaveral are small as compared to the Orlando airport location and if there are several ships turning over they can get over run . . .

Agreed...Enterprise was less than Hertz. We didn't have any negative experience at all. The great thing is that they all offer shuttle service and we didn't have to wait at all going in either direction :)

Is this the Enterprise on 6211 North Atlantic Avenue, Cape Canaveral...that's the one we used. This one is 4 miles south...

You are right, National, Alamao, and Enterprise are all in the same office. I am renting from National in April, and I called the local office and they said the shuttle is for all 3.

You are also right that the offices are small and long waits can occur when dropping off as well as picking up. It's definitely something to keep in mind if you plan on renting a car to drive back to Orlando's airport (to save money on limo service), especially if you have an early flight.

I guess we got lucky we rented from an Enterprise office dedicated to just Enterprise...pretty large office... and the only other family before us was a family of 13...BILs, SILs, nieces, nephews... lol...they rented a van & a car.

Still, we were in & out.

But how are the prices?

I didnt think Hertz had a shuttle, and I can not find any better prices than at Budget.

We get a minivan from Budget at $50 to $70 a day on one way rentals.

Enterprise at the location I went to had better prices than Hertz.
However, you need to shop around and see who has the better offers.
We rent Hertz all the time and we have a rewards program with Hertz and Enterprise plus get a discount with the company I work with. Hertz works best for me.

That is why on my first posting I said to go with which ever is most cost efficient and that we had great service from both.

The original questions was about our experience with Enterprise...and I hope I answered that.

**Dizzyworld** Apparently there's a small car rental office that is shared by Enterprise, Alamo, and National...we did not go there.

If you decide to use Enterprise, go to 6211 North Atlantic Avenue, Cape Canaveral...it was more economical, shuttles are quick and the service was great...at least last February.

Best of luck and I hope everyone enjoys their cruise!!!

:cool1:

We've rented at Budget, Dollar and Alamo to Enterprise...
Budget was good, no problem.

Dollar was a little of a wait dropping off car and waiting for the shuttle.

So on the 3rd cruise we went with Alamo and dropped off at Enterprise. I called and asked how long I might wait and they said on busy cruise days, they use up to three shuttle buses. I worried a little, but it was super easy.

Dropped off car and walked onto the shuttle bus. Enterprise was really quick. The distance from the port, is not that much different, like two more minutes.

Good luck

Chris

Thanks for the info.

6211 is the ONLY Enterprise office in Cape Canaveral, approx 4 miles south on A1A from the port, 1.25 miles further than the Budget office which was the question

This was once the National Office several years ago but National closed their Canaveral office for a time and operated from theie Melbourne airport and US1 locations only. Enterprise moved in. In the past year I've begun to notice their new shuttle dispalying Alamo and National names as well as Enterprise. The web sites list this location but the building nly has the Enterprise signing as do their older shuttles.

Location is easily verified via Google Earth or maps . 28°22'27.39"N 80°36'21.02"W

I owe everyone on this board an apology :( ...The Enterprise we rented from last February appears to be the same one mentioned on this board previously.
We hardly spent anytime in the rental office to notice.

However, after reading how much more economical going with other car rentals can be, I decided to price Alamo and we do end up with a better car for less...at the same location.

Again, please accept my apologies and thank you...

I hear you. We were just on the Dream and it took over an hour for my husband (who dropped us at the Port and we checked him aboard) to get the shuttle from Budget to the Port. And then, they dropped 1 or 2 people off at the other boats before bringing 20 people to DCL.

While we were waiting for him, I drafted a strong letter to Budget, providing them with an assessment of the situation and offering that, if they did nothing to correct things (which have steadily become worse over the past 4-5 years), they wouldn't need to correct things, as they would have no customers left about which to worry.

When we got back to Port and to Budget, everything was smooth as clockwork. Best experience there, ever. I'm a firm believer in you have to let someone higher up know that a problem exists before they can fix it.

Speaking of the whole car rental thing, I love what DCL has done by providing special waiting lines for car rental near where the DCL buses come in. So much better than the mass confusion as the front of the terminal we had experienced all these years.
