Birthday cake

Does every restaurant offer a birthday cake? And do they vary at all, dependent upon which restaurant you dine at (for example, are cakes at a more upscale restaurant more elaborate..I've googled them, and have seen photos on Tripadvisor and there seem to be more than one kind?) ...and they're 25€, correct?

25 Euros and they are the same everywhere. I got mine at Café Mickey and the table next to us at Auberge got theirs on our next trip and they let us have a piece of cake. Exactly the same.

The cakes look like mass-produced and probably come straight from the freezer. They're for sure not done at the restaurant itself.

There's different flavors with different decorations, that's probably why the different pictures.

So they're fairly large? There will only be we 3, do they allow you to take it away with you (though I've read some people share as well)? I'm thinking it would be at Cafe Mickey's...what was the cake like?

Any idea if the icing is more of a regular/cream icing, or more like fondant?

I had a birthday cake at Cafe Mickey and I swear it was the nicest chocolate cake i've ever had in my life (and I have had a lot of wonderful chocolate cake!) haha. As it was just my mother and I we took away the rest of the cake with us, they put it in a box for us to take back

Café Mickey will definitely give you a box. I heard some other places cause a fuzz about it meanwhile.

The cakes are fairly large, yes. Way more than enough for three people.

The chocolate one had the type of icing that's used on the German Black Forest cakes. I honestly have no idea how it's called in English - I eat cakes more than I bake them.

Truth to be told, we didn't care about the cake. It was very, very sweet. I'm more favoring dark chocolate, so maybe that was the reason why I personally didn't like it. The kids around seemed to love it.

I got a cake for my little girl at Inventions and it was the really rich chocolate one. It was such a waste and I felt so bad but the majority of it went in the bin! They kindly wrapped it for us so we could take it back to our hotel but we just couldn't eat it. I did question why I'd ordered a birthday cake in an all you can eat buffet where it's so expensive anyway, talk about not getting your money's worth! Chocolate cake isn't really my bag but the cake was nice enough, I'm sure some people would love it! Likewise I have heard that some people have requested that they have the sing song but without the massive cake (because it wouldn't get eaten) so CMs have put a candle in a small pudding or slice of cake which is just as nice.

The cake itself arrived on a musical stand and had a little chocolate plaque on saying "Bon Anniversaire Phoebe 6 ans" (it was her 6th birthday - obviously). I would upload a picture if I wasn't such a techno-moron...

The cake may have got wasted but it was worth the money just to see Phoebe's face light up when everyone started clapping and singing happy birthday to her

we got a cake in Cafe Mickeys. It was a chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream, it was delish! We didnt cut the cake but we got a box and i brought it home in my suitcase (yes i survived the plane journey home)

I was a quiet reader in this board for months and decided to sign-up to join this great community as well.

At the moment, I was thinking of celebrating into my birthday in Café Mickey (if possible, till/past midnight) as well and not surprise me but my guests (most of whom never been to Disney). I'm still not sure, if it's reasonable and have some question.

So, does anybody know
a) the latest possible reservation time for Café Mickey?
b) if there are still characters when I arrive this late?
c) if it's possible to pre-order just the cake (i've no problem in ordering two cakes and champagne or something to leave some money there, I won't just need dinner anymore this late)? I've heard here, it's not possible and on another board, that it is.
d) how long you're approx. allowed to stay when they close at 11pm (possibly till midnight?)

If anybody knows answers, it's greatly appreciated! Thanks!

a) no idea, sorry. The restaurant reservation line will be able to tell you.
b) yes, characters are there until closing.
c) You mean if you can order the cake when you make a reservation? Yes, but they tend to lose the cake part (that's what happened to us last year). You definitely can not just go into Cafe Mickey and get the cake without eating there. Maybe the restaurant in your hotel would be willing to get you the cake, but that's just a wild guess of mine.
d) I've never made it til closing, so again I can't answer this.

Thanks for all the info! Brilliant, as usual.

DS will be 11, and honestly, none of us are huge cake eaters either...but he loves the Pomp and circumstance of things like that (the singing, the character, etc)... Not to mention, he's getting older and I'm afraid he'll lose that Disney love soon, so best to do it just in case.

Well I posted what I was told.

I would double check about the cake at Buffalo Bill. I have never heard of this being done before.

You can get a birthday call from Mickey if you ask at City hall and if they have any they wil give you a birthday sticker. I think that's about it

not really (they put happy birthday candles on it) - but you could always just order the cake anyway and blow out the candles together as your "25th wedding birthday" .

yes, the characters who are out and about around the tables when your cake is brought out, bring the cake to you with your waiter .
