Is there anyone here who has sailed in this cabin? If so, how was it? I already checked the stateroom reports and section and there aren't any. The same/nearby cabins on the Dream had some bad reviews about noise from the theater. I know DCL fixed the problems with noise from the clubs affecting Deck 5 cabins, was curious if they did the same for cabins above the theater.

Thanks!

If it's noise from the theater, it isn't likely that will change. However, unless you are in your room during one of the shows you won't hear anything. Most guests are at dinner or the show in the evening. If there is a matinee and you are in your room, you will hear it. We stayed in a room above the WDT on the Magic during the 2008 EBPC and I heard one of the acts practicing around midnight, but was told that they only had the music on at 50% and do that only during the longer cruises when extra acts are brought on later in the cruise and need to practice. The CMs were appologetic when I asked about it at the behind the scene session a couple days later. The other time we heard anything was the day we were in port & Aly & AJ boarded. They rehearsed their show that afternoon for the evening performance. DD and I had gone to our room to change after swimming and she really enjoyed dancing around the room and singing along with them. We could clearly hear the music -- so that is how I know you would hear the matinees and not be able to nap then.

Now, there are other rooms that are affected by the movie theater, which shows movies throughout the day and late into the night. If you were in one of those rooms, I would try to move but IMO you should be good.

We were in 5022 on the Fantasy (same room, other side) and had absolutely no noise issues at all whatsoever.

We were in 5522 on the Dream and the only noise I heard from the theater was the actors warming up...which I actually enjoyed listening to! We were never in the room during either of the performances so that was never an issue for us. I have to say that we LOVED that room!! There was so much space and having two portholes was great!!

We were is 5011 on the Dream and there was really bad banging noises off and on during the night. DW didn't really enjoy the motion of the ocean either. Anything like that?

I don't wanna surprise her with an upgrade if she's gonna hate it.

The only motion we felt, was felt all over the entire boat as we sailed through 20 foot swells. It was no worse in our room than it was on the open air decks. That was an extreme condition though and we felt no motion during the remainder of the cruise.

..... sailed through 20 foot swells ..... That was an extreme condition though ......

 It's all relative. Try 50 foot rogues every 25 minutes for 4 hours. ;)
Sorry, couldn't resist. I'll try to make that the last one. :goodvibes

we were in 5522 on the Fantasy in August and absolutely loved this cabin! The ONLY noise we heard was from the later show in the theater on the few nights we skipped the show and that was very faint. More like the "thump thump" of a music beat occasionally during the time frame of the later show.

It's a fabulous room. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Okay, I will. :goodvibes

It seems the banging we heard during the night is reported in other cabins forward, saying it was crew doors or carts and/or waves against the hull? You didn't experience that at all? Part of the problem may be that DW was not able to sleep because she was not feeling well. Hopefully this time she'll be able to sack out properly. I really would like to surprise her with an upgrade but I don't want to get a room she'll be miserable in.

We were in 5516 on the MV of the Fantasy and never heard a sound outside the room.

We didn't hear anything like that. The room is near a service room (where they store the housekeeping carts) but the doors to the cabin and the service room are on two different hallways and we didn't find any noise from that at all. We had no through traffic there and halls are pretty twisty in that area so no long straightaways to run through!

I don't sleep well normally and there were no sounds that kept me awake at night!

I thought this cut back on the noise as well. We only saw other guests in the hallway near our room the last night.

This is driving me mad!!!!!!!! I really wanna do it (also noticed 7A GTY isn't much more) but don't wanna ruin the trip if she has problems. It's tough because I want it to be a surprise so I can't really get an opinion from her. Grrrrr.

what do YOU want to do.. if you want to upgrade I say do it.

Just looked back and saw that you have an 8D. Personally, I would stay there. I upgraded from that to a cat 5 on our upcoming spring break cruise because of the price glitch opening day and the crazy pricing. Honestly, just found out about the room size & storage difference and am not crazy about that. We will be booking cat 8s from now on because of that.

Ah so inexpensive to upgrade for you. Are there any cat 4s open?
Ours had a few GTYs last week and it would have been only $200 to upgrade. The cat is as big as an 8 and you have a verandah. We opted to stay put because we are in the 2nd verandah forward now so less chance of issues spending time out there now. We also like staying forward on the ship.

We would only be upgrading from a 5D to a 4D. It was $200 from a cat 9 though, so less than $400 from 9 to 4. Guess the Easter week price was slightly higher. Either way, you will enjoy the 8D. :)
