Does anyone know of anything going on at WDW the last week of April or first week of May? We are looking at booking one of these weeks. Which would be better crowd wise? Any specific dates to avoid? Thanks for any advice!

Either week seems to be fine. I've never been in May either. We were going to go in March, but after some research, I don't think that I want to fight the crowd. Spring break's are all over the place from March until mid-April, and I really want to avoid that. So I looked into going maybe the first week of May and wait times and crowds look great, plus the Flower and Garden Festival is at Epcot. It looks as if both the last week of April and the first week of May are going to be about the same crowd wise, so I think you'll be fine either way. I am particularly looking into the dates of May 4-11th.

We used to go every year at this time and the crowds were not bad at all. It does start to get hot, it wasn't uncommon that the weather was in the high 80s low 90s.

I know in the last couple of years, DHS hosts a dance/cheer tournament at the end of April and the Expedition Everest Race is the first weekend in May. I'm not sure how those affect overall crowds.

We are going from April 26th- May 4th. We went May 4th through May 11th last year. It is warm, but not too hot and crowds aren't too bad. We like it.

I want to say that in addition to EPCOT having the Flower and Garden show that DHS also has Star Wars weekends so expect HUGE crowds at DHS during those weekends!

Crowds are about the same at both times. We went back and forth on the last week in April, or the first week in May. Our anniversary is the 26th of April and my birthday is the 4th of May. I had to decide which I wanted to spend at Disney. :goodvibes I went with anniversary. We will be there from April 20 to the 27th. Flower and Garden Festival sounds AMAZING this year! I can't wait to see the Oz exhibit!

We are going the first week of May. We are DVC and the points go down on May 1st. I think Star Wars starts the 2nd week in May. Anybody know?

Go off topic as much as you want!

I'm glad to know points go down May 1. We are also DVC and running low on points. Gosh, I wonder why that keeps happening. ;)

Yes. I posted this on the Disney Resort Board.

All Star & Carribbean Beach April 25-May 5 (Cheerleaders)

Accommodations is listed on page 11, the five night dates are April 25 - May 1st. Some teams may add additional days.

As some posters have stated they wish they knew about these major cheer competitions... this is one of the major ones, considered the Olympics of Cheerleading. Keep in mind, not every team will choose to stay at these resorts. The visiting spectators will make their own reservations.

There is also "The Summit" at Disney May 4-5. Website thus far only lists the All Star Resort. Again, teams may choose to stay elsewhere.

We plan to go as cheerleading spectators. My daughter loves to meet and take pictures with her favorite "Cheerlebrities."

Want to know more about this competition, here is a good video about one of the Cheerlebrities that CNN did a story about.
