Frontier from Harrisburg ---> Orlando!!! UPDATE!

We booked RT flight from HAR to MCO a week and half ago for our July trip. We used to drive down to BWI stay at a Park and Stay hotel to leave at the crack of dawn the next day.

Now with the later departure time and lack of need to stay at a hotel the night before our departure, we splurged on Classic Plus/stretch seating. Saves us $$ regardless.
It included our checked luggage which would have equaled the economy seat with paying for checked luggage, priority boarding, premium beverage and priority security line at MCO (supposedly shorter wait through security check point- we'll see- not holding my breath on that one!).

We did the exact same thing for our Oct. trip. I agree about the security check point but HIA is so easy to navigate I don't think there will be a problem either way. About the early return departure time, we just add a day to the beginning of our vacation to make up for it. Perhaps they will change it later on. Also hoping for Resort Airline Check-in, too, by the time we leave. Don't relish the thought of dragging our luggage onto ME bus!

Update!!! I just booked our return flight for 6/22..... again only $89 each!!! Magical Express will be at 6am yikes! But thats better than cramming myself and 4 kids into my parents mini van at 5 am for a long drive back to PA!!!!

That's great! Let me know if Frontier has been added to Resort Airline Check-in. After Frontier announced it was beginning direct flights from HIA to MCO I wrote and thanked them and suggested they consider including RAC like most of the major airlines that service WDW.

We are considering (if Frontier isn't a participating airline by Oct.) taking a taxi or limo to the airport because it will be a Sun. (no commuter traffic) and that extra hour in the morning is so worthwhile. We will not have to drag our luggage onto ME and hopefully will have curbside check-in and there will be 6 of us (2 families) and so we will split the cost.

Have a great time!:)

Luckily my parents are driving our luggage home! I hope they do become a participating airline for future trips!

We will be using Frontier out of Allentown in Dec. I noticed they have posted their flights out of Allentown thru 1/6/2013.

I think the new service from Allentown and Harrisburg is wonderful. Both airports are a decent drive from my house! If it becomes a popular route for Frontier maybe they'll add more days of the week to their schedule especially in Allentown. :thumbsup2

The only downer I can relate was for our Airtran flight out, if Frontier keeps the same schedule was at 8:40 AM. That means leaving DisneyME at 5:40 AM.

The airport is great, the flight was 2 hrs. no frills. We are in NE and the local airport has Allegiant now going nonstop to MCO. We will use this in the Fall. Only issue is the cost of the bags.

I told the family, you get underware and cosmetic needs in carry on and any electronic's
(wink wink)
Then you have to pick out three shirts, three shorts, one pants, jacket, and wear it alllll at one time to save on nuttsy baggage fees. :rotfl2:
Need to tell them I am joking, when I said budget trip, did not mean to really wear everything,

Imagine charging for the overhead bin? Only a back pack size item under the seat will go free. Prechecking will allow a discount.

But I will send through 1 bag and 1 overhead. The cost was $47 added fees were total $67 for three, one seat was $84. Will save about $30 in fuel from Harrisburg, and parking fees of $59.

Hi, Harrisburg peeps! I'm flying out on Frontier this evening for Orlando! I will post a review when I get back in 2 weeks. :cool1:

We booked on the first day that they went up for sale and didn't have to pay for stretch seats! We're in Row 1 which helps my anxiety when we arrive and I want to make that mad dash to Magical Express and start my vacation.

I don't see them listed as a participating airline with ME yet so it looks like I will be bringing my bags to checkin on our way home.

Now to decide if I will have the 'complimentary' goldfish crackers or the animal crackers. Big decisions.

Hi Bizeemom4. Have a great time and I will be very interested in hearing all the details. We are flying Frontier out of Hbg. in Oct. and are hoping they are participating in RAC by that time. I did write and make that suggestion and I know several other people who had written to them indicating that most major airlines servicing the WDW resorts offer this service. We'll see. Again, have a great time!:)

UPDATE!!!

I just booked another amazing deal on Frontier!!!

Harrisburg ---> Orlando June 18, 2013 11 am ... $69 each!!! including taxes!

I keep asking them to become a resort participating airline...so hopefully they will soon, otherwise I may book a different airline back to PHL instead.

The return flight on Sunday 6/23 is listed at 7:45 am! OMG YIKES! A 4:45 am DME sounds awful. We haven't flown out that early since 2007 and I vowed to never do it again. What to do...what to do

Congratulations! Unfortunately it won't fit in with our plans right now but glad you were able to find a great deal. We flew down on Frontier in Oct. and it was a great flight. Then in Dec. we flew down again (Frontier) and flew USAir back (through Charlotte) because of the nonparticipating part. My husband uses a wheelchair at the airport and dragging our luggage on the ME bus and then through the airport is just not doable so we opted for USAir so that we could check our bags at the resort. When I got home I wrote to them again about RAC and how I had opted to fly another airline for the return flight just because of this. Haven't heard anything though. Again, congratulations, just hope if we keep urging them to participate it will have some influence!

This was another reason we opted for USAir on the return flight. Our flight left at 10:25am so not a really early ME depart time. When we flew back in Oct. on Frontier we actually took a limo to the airport (traveling with other family members) so we didn't leave 3 hrs. earlier than flight like ME does. Worked out well for us.

We are getting ready to book for next month at $59 per person. For 3 of us it's going to cost $360. Cheaper then southwest and more convenient for us!

Use the promo code CHOICE before 1/10 and you save 10% on classic fares and 5% on the cheapo fares.

It may not be their choice. Southwest was not participating for a long time because their reservation system was not compatable. Airportbags is the service provider, they may not want to work with Frontier to make their systems compatable because they are not that big.

Here is their website if you want to contact them:

For the poster above who mentioned hating to wait in line at MCO to check bags....try going outside to curbside....the lines are ALWAYS much, much shorter than inside at the counter. It may cost you a few bucks to tip the skycap.....but, IMO it's worth it to avoid waiting in those awful lines inside. We rarely check bags anymore (it's just the two of us these days since our kids are all adults now) but, on the few occasions we do......I head right outside to the curb.

Hoping they publish their fares from Harrisburg to Orlando for August soon..My trip is booked and I HATE waiting on airfare
