Resort options for 6 (2 Adults, 3 Children, 1 Baby)

Trying to help a co-worker with her first trip to WDW. Other than the Family Suites at Animation, are there any other options available to a family of six? Recommendations for one family suite v. two rooms elsewhere? Please refresh my memory re: connecting room v. adjoining rooms?

Fort Wilderness sleeps 6- 2 bunks, a double in the bedroom and double on a Murphy bed in living room. Plus you get a kitchen.

Connecting have a door between rooms. Adjoining means next to or near each other.

With having a baby under 2, they would be able to stay in any resort that sleeps 5. Moderate resorts and Deluxe resorts all have standard rooms for 5 plus an infant (up to age 3). Do you know what their budget is?

I am a fan of Fort Wilderness Cabins. I would reccommend looking into those. There are some very good reviews on this board on the cabins both why people do and don't like them I like them, but I can understand the reasons why some people don't.

I like a little more space, No other families on the other side of the wall, Full Kitchen, Deck and the woods.


What people don't like 2 busses to get to the parks if you don't have a car, how spread out it is, The woods.

Because of the baby, the are technically a family of 5 (no offense). This may actually be a benefit and give more options when booking. They could stay in a 1-BDR villa at AKL Jambo, Kidani or OKW. They could stay in a Deluxe resort that fits a family of 5, i.e. YC, BC, BWI, CR, GF, POLY. They could also stay in AB at POR. It would be very tight. But, these are legal options for now.

Thank you all for your quick replies. I believe they are trying to go as economically as possible, but I'm not quite sure. However, now that I have some idea of options, I'll be passing them all along.

Deluxe - Animal Kingdom Lodge no standard that sleeps 5 but a 1 bedroom suite Club Level sleeps 6
Polynesian standard and club level sleeps 5
Grand Floridian standard and club level sleeps 5
Contemporary standard and club level sleeps 5
Yacht Club standard
Beach Club standard
Boardwalk Inn standard and club level sleeps 5 Deluxe club level sleeps 6


We have 4 children and have stayed in a room for 5 at Grand Floridian and Contemporary. With small children, if budget allows, I would recommend a monorail resort (Contemporary, Poly, and Grand Floridian). We have also stayed in the All Star Music Family suites. Benefit is 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms and these are located in a building closer to the main building and a pool.

I think their cheapest option is going to be one room at Port Orleans Riverside. That would be so cramped, though.

Very cramped. Been there, done that, wouldn't do it again. I'd actually rather stay off-site than pack 6 people into one POR room.

The All Star Family Suites are a great option. You don't have to worry about connecting or non-connecting rooms (and no matter what you may hear, connecting rooms are NOT guaranteed), you get a kitchenette and a second bathroom too. Plus the Family Suites are all in the preferred section of ASMu, so you don't have to worry about a long hike to the food court or bus stop.

Thanks. I was looking at AoA but from what I can tell (with very little research) it seems to be very expensive, more so than All Star Family suites. Also, from the diagrams I am seeing, I'm not sure AoA has two full baths. The diagrams show one full (with tub/shower) and one with only a toilet and sink. I spoke with co-worker at lunch and she said she is definitely trying to be cost effective, particularly given airfare from NYC for 6 and she DOES NOT want to have to cook (she's actually a chef and wants no part of cooking/preparing on vacation). And they will be renting a car. I still may float the idea of the Campground but I'm leaning more toward All Star Family suites.

Absolutely. Her vacation, her decision. I'll make my recommendation but it's entirely up to her.

So it looks like AoA, AS Family Suites and Campgrounds. Has anyone heard rumor of free dining this year? Right now I'm looking at early June for her because there's a percentage off your resort through June 14. However, FD might be a better option for her if they are going to offer it this year for August.

Hmmmm.... I was in a Nemo suite in August. I'm trying to think. Maybe it was just a shower but it was full sized like a tub. It was the master and nobody wanted a bath in that one. The size was the same size as my bathtub at home.
