Help/Advice?

Wondered if anyone in here can offer any advice/help on the following. I have been renting some of my points out this last year and have accumulated a fair bit of money in my Paypal account which is in dollars.

Ideally I would like to use this money to pay for things whilst in WDW this May but the new card Paypal have launched converts any payments you make to sterling which defeats the object of trying to avoid the exchange rate hit.

Has anyone found a way of using a $ Paypal balance to open a US bank account or mannaged to open a US Paypal account? Some stuff I read looked pretty scary on non US residents opening a US paypal account!

Any help/advice appreciated:)

We have a checking account at SunTrust which we use to pay our dues and spending in the US. You could transfer the balance in to there. Only issue would be you need to open the account in person.

This.

Getting money in any out is a breeze. I even use it to send my normal savings to the states. Add Cash from UK account, once it's cleared, withdraw to the US account. There's no fee for doing it but PayPal doesn't give the best exchange rates.

Saying that though, the convenience of being able to transfer it al electronically easily offsets the less than perfect exchange rate.

One thing of note though, Suntrust have changed their T&Cs and there is now a $7 pcm charge for the account (or at least the type of account I have) unless you keep a minimum of $500 balance. This obviously locks up $500, or costs you a monthly fee. For me it's still worth it to be able to pay my dues monthly but it's worth taking into account...
