Started packing... it's getting close!! What are thoughts about wearing old race shirts around the world before the race? I don't want to be "that guy" and unknowingly commit some runner fashion faux pas. ;-)

A red thong speedo is a "runner fashion faux pas".
A gladiator costume with gold body paint is a "runner fashion faux pas".
A middle age woman in full makeup and hairdoo is a "runner fashion faux pas".
That ugly asian guy dressed as Snow White
is a "runner fashion faux pas".

You will see many "runner fashion faux pas" but an old race shirt should be just fine.

Oh heavens no! They ARE the badge of honor! Expect to see shirts from all over the country. It's kind of like the day after the marathon, we all nod and wink at one another. Occasionally you will be stopped and asked a question about a race that is a non-Disney race.

There used to be an old rule of thumb that you would only wear a shirt for the same distance or longer... With all the really cool artwork out there, I would never even think of that any longer.

Wear your shirt and enjoy - The sad thing is tht it will be too warm for many of the really cool race shirts

Funny. I had the same question when starting to pack today. Glad you asked it!

Lol. I only agree with the first one though...a speedo of any color is $%^&*.
A middle aged woman might be in full makeup as a costume (I hope)...
Asian or any other fellow in Snow White shows a great sense of humour!

I look forward to seeing the guy in the Smow White costume. He has been at several Disney races that I have run. Just one of the interesting characters that pop up at races. Around where I live there is one guy that we called "Captain America" 'cause he always raced in the same red/white/blue outfit. Nice guy, and it was always a pick me up to seem him running.

AFM and race shirts....since they are mostly technical fabric, I reserve them for use at the gym or for when I run. It's not the type of shirt I would wear day-to-day. Plus, they always fit so funky.

But it seems to be de riguer for people to wear them to the expos to "shock and awe" the rest of the masses with their best accomplishment!

Yes, I do agree. He's there every year looking like he's having great fun. I look forward to seeing him. I think he's usually a different princess for the half. I always look out for him, much like the guy wearing a pink tutu.

A guy in a red Christmas sweater and pink pajama bottoms may be a "runner fashion fuax pas"
A guy in lime green tiger striped tights may be a "runner fashion faux pas"...

Yep, 4:30 pm SWA flight out of CMH. I'm considering going earlier and seeing if I can get on an earlier flight. Long shot, but I don't have much going on Friday. If that doesn't work out, I'll see ya there! Where are you staying? I'm at CBR the 1st night and ASSpo Sat-Mon nights. Fly back Tues.

Waving hi to my fellow CMH runners! We are flying SWA on Thurs afternoon. Sounds like there are a lot of us going!

Hi! Safe travels! Where do you do most of your running? Just curious. I love the Olentangy trail, but it's getting a little old. Would like to run some other trails- maybe westerville/ polaris area? I live by Alum Creek, so that'd be more convenient.

Good luck on your half!!

Thanks! We do the bulk around our neighborhood (a series of apartment complexes) actually! Not ideal, but hey. Our long runs were either done as races (5k, 5mi, 10k, 15k) or we did one on the Olentangy River Trail and one on the Hilliard rail trail. I really liked the rail trail, actually... Downside is it's only six miles (I think) so not great for full training. We did a 12.5 run there - to the end, back, and through the parking lot to get the last bit in lol. It was very very quiet towards the end, and a nice change of pace!

Good luck on your race this weekend!

Eta: Westerville has a really nice network of trails, we plan to try those out sometime, too, but it just hasn't happened yet!

AAAHHHAAAA! Okay that is funny! The thing about a Disney race is this: you don't know who or what you will see out there!

Last year in the half I saw Santa Clause! I ran beside Santa for a while and he gave my brother a Santa Clause coin!
