Wondering if the walkways around the POLY are lush and shaded? My DH loved the walk around POR with all the quaint pathways so lushly landscaped. I was wondering if the walk around POLY might be comparable but in a Hawaiian setting? Just getting more excited by the day....:thumbsup2

We've never stayed at or visited POR so I can't compare the two, but we love the Poly and love walking around the resort enjoying the tropical atmosphere. It's especially relaxing at night (IMO) walking around under the lit tiki torches. You will love the Poly....it's an awesome resort :goodvibes.

The surroundings & walkways at Poly are very lush & tropical. Best grounds on WDW property IMO. There's a magic there at night with the tiki torches lit, walking around the resort. We visit there at least once every trip just for the atmosphere. It's much smaller than POR as well, that's a plus!

I would say that they are very similar. Poly is probably a bit more lush but I think that POR and Poly are two of the best landscapes of the resorts on property.

Oh - and hello NE PA from the Lehigh Valley!

Yes, I see that. I'm often found around the Lehigh area. I have a doctor at LVH and we shop there alot. Oh, and let's not forget the Sands Casino. We're in Schuylkill Co. Not much of a place that you'd go out of your way to visit unless you pass through on your way to Knoebles or want to visit America's Oldest Brewery, i.e., Yuengling. We live right where Rt.61 and I-81 meet. Which is even more of a reason I cannot wait for this much needed vacation ! I gotta get outta this place !:crazy2:

I'm 5 min from Sands & I work at The Promenade!

I know exctly where you are, my entire family is from Schuylkill & Northumberland counties, we take 61 to get there. We shoot over on 901 through Minersville though, and cross 81 there. I'm assuming you're more near Duncott, I heard about the shooting there yesterday, how sad. Or Frackville, Shendo, Mahanoy City.

The Poly will seem a million miles from where you are! Have a blast! We're hoping to stay there on our girls trip in April.

I'm actually in Frackville. We (my DH and I ) own a bar/restaurant here for 17 yrs. I grew up here. He's from Philly.
Not quite sure what shooting you're talking about from yesterday(haven't watched the news in 3 days) however, there was a murder/suicide in Mahanoy City early Christmas morning....was my sons best friend. Been a very difficult 2012 for us, lots of deaths around us. My mom(still not over that) my dog (on mothers day!) and 6 friends, 4 of them very close. The Christmas day one is just unbearable on us all...a complete shocker! So now you know why I'm absolutely in need of a happy escape !
Really looking forward to the 1st stay at the POLY. Wasn't quite sure if I was doing the right thing by changing from POR to POLY, but I'm now convinced it was a great idea!!!:goodvibes Let's hope 2013 is a good year !

Lush and tropical - yes but not really shaded. It is my favorite resort though and walking around is lovely and peaceful, even when the wind blows and the bamboo crackles ;)

Tons of flowers, very lush. Not much shade and is very humid with the beach so close, but even just walking to grab breakfast is gorgeous. Walking around at night with all the tiki torches is awesome, especially playing on the beach watching Wishes. Poly is definitely my favorite resort

Sorry to hear about all your losses Cindie-rella, that's tough. Look forward to your trip, you will feel a million miles away at Poly!

One of the gals I go to WDW 2-3 times a year with is from Shendo. I think we might be there (hopefully at Poly) around your dates, we're doing a Girls Trip 4/21-25. We haven't booked the room yet, we're waiting for the AP discount to come out for those dates. We'll have to plan to say hi if our dates overlap.

We love walking around the Poly. It's beautiful at night when they have the tiki torches lit. :cloud9:

We'll be arriving the 27th...I know quite few ppl from Shendo. Perhaps we know of each other. Mention Mazz's Cafe to her. Maybe she knows of us. I have ppl from her town that work for me. And in case you change your dates a bit later we can maybe meet up. If not, stop by on one of your Schyl. Co. visits.
