Chef Mickey
Royal table
Be our guest
Ohana breakfast
Mickey BBQ
Hollywood/vine breakfast
We really prefer the character dines but I'm up for idea.... Don't want to dish out all the $$ for a bad experience! Help!

We went back to 1900 PF on our last trip to give it another shot since we weren't super thrilled the first time we were there. Although the food was so so, the character interaction was awesome and made the meal!

Over the recent years, we have done just about all of the character dinners. I love the crystal palace. As a matter of fact my 12 year old insists on it for every visit. Ilike it because it gives us a chance to sit and relax for a few minutes. We did 1900 PF 2 years ago, it was ok. Step-mother and sisters were funny. Food was so-so, typical Disney buffet. I have learned not to expect too much from Disney restaurants and quite honestly we don't go for the food anyway. I suggest deciding where to eat depending on where you hope to be that day. Otherwise it just gets too stressful. Good luck!

I don't know but we enjoyed it :confused3 Food wasn't THAT great bit wasn't bad either. My boys really enjoyed the stepsisters and Evil Stepmother ;) Yes, Crystal Palace is a great one too.......we always do the breakfast there each trip. :thumbsup2

We really enjoy 1900 Park Fare! It, and Aukerhaus breakfast, pretty much cover our princess meals.

Also try Yak and Yetti (particularly for lunch) and the Seafood buffet at Cape May.

I think experiences vary wildly from family to family (even from person to person within the same family, as we all have different preferences). There are so many factors that could come into play making very different experiences at the same restaurant (different waitstaff, different crowd levels, different character actors, even the other patrons can make a big difference - if you are next to an obnoxious family or whatever, and so on). We have had good and bad experiences at many of the same restaurants. One year our wait for Tusker House breakfast was so ridiculous (with ADRs!) that we were determined never to go again, but there aren't that many options at AK and we tried again and the next year it was fantastic. Crystal Palace was wonderful one year but the next year it felt completely different (and not in a good way).

I wouldn't let the reviews sway you. If you liked it enough to book it in the first place, stick with it and try for yourself!

We prefer 1900 Park Fare for breakfast over dinner. The food quality was much better. We're also big fans of Crystal Palace at dinner if you're looking for a character meal at dinner time.

I agree that it is so subjective. We have enjoyed many character meals over the years, but CP dinner was our only bad experience. Restaurant was dirty, wait was close to an hour with an ADR, all characters never made it around, etc. but many others love it. We liked 1900 park fare for the great character interaction. Food was just ok. Our best character meals have been CRT dinner, Ohana breakfast and LTT dinner when it was still a character meal. Askershus had the worst (so fast) character interaction, but atmosphere was nice. Chef Mickeys is fun, average food, good characters.

I agree with this completely. I loved the character interaction at 1900 dinner but hated the food. Not good at all. Breakfast was way better.

I love crystal palace. Great food and pretty atmosphere. Characters really interact with you as well.

We ate at 1900 PF in December 2010 and while we didn't care for the food, we loved the step sisters. I agree with the pp that everyone's experiences are different and what turns out to be a not so good/bad experience for one person, might turn out to be a great experience for another. Good luck.

We did it for dinner last April, it was the best meal we had. The food was very fresh, tons of salads and fresh fruits which were a nice change from the other restaurants. The characters were great, especially the step sisters. It was the first requested place for thid years trip.

We had a nice experience at 1900 PF. We thought that there was a lot of variety, which was nice. The stepsisters were hilarious, really made the experience. I think you should give it a shot. :thumbsup2

1900 Park fare has great character interaction, I took my 12 year old boy who was less than thrilled to go see Cinderella, however he had so much fun with the step sisters and stepmother. Its typical buffet food nothing to brag about but the characters are what made the meal. We had a good time.

We loved 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace so much so that we are hitting them both up again this vacation. To be honest, we weren't a fan of any of Disney food, some was a little better then others but non great. Both were great for us with character interaction.

Don't let the reviews scare you away from trying it. Two trips ago, I was in the same boat and was about to ditch our reservation to 1900 PF for dinner because the reviews made me nervous. Like you, I came on the boards asking others if I should switch the reservation to somewhere else. Fortunately, many assured me it was great and to at least give it a try for myself. In the end, I kept the reservation for my family and I was so glad that I did! We loved the food (large variety of not your standard buffet items, very fresh & hot, and a large variety of fruit & other items not on the other buffets) and the character interaction was by far the best on property. The character interaction so made the experience! We dined there again this past summer and weren't disappointed. We still found the food to be very tasty with a broad variety and again, the character interaction made it our most memorable meal. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks guys for all your help,! Your all right I have stressed myself because of reviews and since this particular day we won't be at the parks we were looking for a dinner at a resort.... Our main priority is the characters not the food so I can live with the food :)........but now I'm stressed to see where I can add crystal palace since you all say it's so great :p

We ended up here by chance. We were trapped in Disney (not a bad problem to have) due to snow in the northeast and since we were staying at the POLY we wanted something close by. There was space available at 1900 so we gave it a try.

I thought the food was just as good, if not better, than the other Disney buffets (and we have tried all of them with the exception of 'Ohana for breakfast) and the characters were great.

If you typically eat at character meals on property then I think you will really enjoy it. I think the bad reviews tend to come from folks who prefer the non-buffets.

For us we do not like crystal palace. The food was not good, bad service and not great character interaction. I know everyone's experiences vary and for our trip in 2011 it was ok but 2012 was really bad.
