Hello all! I've been off the boards for about five years, and in that time lots has changed in my life. The short story is, I'm now a single mom and planning a WDW trip all by myself for the first time ever. Exciting, huh? ;)

So here's the question: The Disney website is showing me a BLT one-bedroom for May. I keep hearing (er...reading) that BLT is always booked, so I'm wondering how quickly I need to jump on this reservation?

Also, I'm having trouble finding information about the cancellation policy on the Disney website. Will I get a full refund if I cancel by a certain date? :confused3

Thanks in advance!!

I don't know much about the BLT. Are they part of the spring discount on the website?

In any case if it is a "room only" reservation then you can cancel up until 5 days before your visit without penalty. You put down a one day deposit.

BLT is a Disney vacation club resort. You can totally book a vacation threw Disney at that resort but it is mainly for ppl with in the club. If you do rent a "cash" stay you will have all the normal things that come along with a regular reservation threw Disney. A normal deposit, payment due 45 days out and same cancelation policy. You will also have mouse keeping unlike dvc members do when the use their points. It is a very nice resort you would have to walk to CR fo the monorail threw a walkway that connects both resorts. I hope I answered some of your question best of luck on your trip

Ahh, yes. Much better answer above. I don't know why I forgot that BLT was DVC. I guess I was still thinking of the Contemporary. That would have the 5 day cancellation policy on Room Only but it makes sense that BLT would be different, being DVC. :)

I'm a single dad and the best part of my year is taking my daughter to Disneyworld on vacation, it's not so bad...We are staying at Bay Lake Tower in May...Being 5 months out you are already cutting it close so if you really are planning on going i would suggest booking as soon as you can...May i also suggest renting points from a dvc owner? I rented points for $12 a point and saved a lot of money for a theme park view room which my daughter is going to love...Aside from the Contemporary, It's the best location on Disney property in my opinion...Great hotel choice...Hope you have a great trip!

Assuming you book a package (room plus tickets) cancellation penalties are set forth in the small print - no penalty up to 45days before and then $200 from 45 days before until arrival, I believe.
You don't say how many children you have, but one thing to know is that the DVC 1 br.s including BLT have 1 master bed in the bedroom and a fold out sofa in the living room. When I stayed on a cash reservation in a 1 br I had to hoist the bed out of the sofa each night to sleep on and then fold it back up each morning so we could use the living room.

Perhaps this is just me being too literal, so please can you clarify something OP? Are you planning this trip yourself, Planning this trip to be just for yourself, or both? Because if you are going to be all by yourself, do you need a one bedroom suite? If it is the former, and you are planning this for yourself and your family, then :thumbsup2

I owned BLT DVC prior to my divorce my kids loved BLT. How many children? I would recommend looking into renting points much cheaper to stay there and depending how many of you you may be able to go with the studio. Personally if I didn't rent points And was going throug Disney I would book room only at the CR the room only you put a 1 night deposit when you book.
