Any restaurants with good home cooked meals?

My mom is already dreading the food at Disney. She is so worried she won't get her veggies while she is there :rotfl:. Are there any places that are reasonably priced with a variety of veggies, maybe somewhere that's cafeteria style? I'm thinking a buffet may be our best bet but we don't really care about paying high prices for character meals.

You might want to check out Liberty Tree Tavern in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom. It is a buffet with an assortment of various vegetables. They also have turkey, beef, and pork, so you are likely to find something that you like.

For home cooked meals, I'm a big fan of 50's Prime Time Cafe, but it might not have the largest assortment of vegetables that she is looking for.

Liberty Tree Tavern is not a buffet, it is a family style set menu meal at Dinner and at lunch is has a variety of different home style meals on a menu.

Trails End Buffet at FT. Wilderness is a buffet that features items homestyle. If you don't mind that it is not in a park.

50's Primetime is also a good choice for homestyle at DHS.

At cosmic rays at Magic Kingdom on the dinner menu is a roasted chicken with green beans mashed potatoes and gravy.

Also, there are plenty of places at resorts and parks that fruits, vegetables, and salads are sold. She will be able to get her vegetables in.

Columbia Harbor House at MK has broccoli as a side. Cosmic Ray's at MK has green beans as a side also. Both are counter service.

DO NOT WORRY. Disney is very good at accommidating peoples food wishes. Most restaurants have vegetarian dishes; and dishes come with veggies. After reading your thread; 50s prime time came to mind right away.

Another vote for 50s Prime Time. Have you looked over menus with her? That might ease her mind. When my sister was planning to come, that's what we did, because she's a picky eater and was worried. It is nice to see what's on the menu and then make a list of places that you and she know there are foods she would like to eat.

You can also get salads at many QS places. Maybe the two of you can split a sandwich or entree and a salad.

Try allearsnet.com and look at the menus to see what's available.

Another vote here for Trails End Buffet at Ft. Wilderness. We had a party of 8 there recently and there were enough choices for everyone, even out 2 picky adults. The cost per adult with a drink was just under $25. It is a nice boat ride from MK to get there. It also gets you out of the crowds and it is a quieter place to have your meal.

Liberty Tree Tavern most definitely...It reminds me of being home, thats why i've eaten there once and never been back...I can remember being a kid, that was like 3 days out of the week for dinner...Turkey or ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, squash...That was like a staple in our family...Honestly though, as long as you are eating table service and not always quick service you can get a nice fill of vegetables and good overall food...Garden grill is another, same feel as Liberty Tree....Hope this helps, enjoy your trip!

I am glad to see some support for Liberty Tree here. I think it is one of Disney's best kept secrets. For us, it seems like a break from "theme park food." I actually would have put Trail's End down as a close second, too, for the same reason.

A lot more really good options at Epcot....a couple of salads and fish/veggies dishes at Sunshine Seasons, several dishes with veggies at Rose & Crown, and a yummy vegetable couscous at Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco.

We had great luck with ordering some food from Garden Grocer when our twins were infants and we needed special milk, yogurt, etc. We ended up having them also deliver some veggies and fruits which we kept in the fridge. I brought a box of small ziplocs with us and packed some healthy snacks for the park to balance out all the pasta and chicken fingers my son would be eating that week. That might be a nice option.

50's Prime Time & Trails End will be the best options, but most of the buffets are pretty good.
