A couple of questions...

I booked our room and paid the deposit this week, very excited for our first cruise, DCL or otherwise.

I booked a concierge veranda stateroom {Fantasy} but I'm wondering where those are located on the ship? My mom said something about me asking if we could be midship? Also, do you get to pick your room? I see a lot of posts about rooms being people's favorite, so I was wondering if you get to pick. If you do, how do you do it? I can't seem to modify anything on my reservation on the website. It says I have to call?

Also, can I change my dining seating if it's available? I picked main, but after reading about the times, I think the late seating will suit us better.

Last, can you add ground transportation on after you book? I didn't add it at the start, but since then have figured we'll be flying in the night before and staying at WDW and I want to ride the bus!

Thanks~

In concierge, you can choose any dining time/rotation you want. Let them know you want to change.

Yes, you can add transportation by calling your TA up to 3 days before the cruise. You can actually add it at the airport when you arrive as well.

On the Fantasy, the concierge cabins are in the forward part of the ship. On the good side....PJ is the concierge manager and he is amazing.

People have all sorts of reasons for liking a particular room or part of the ship. Guess I'm not picky enough--we've been all over the ship and with the rare instance of something not working in the room, I've never seen a "bad" one.

If you get an on line message that says you have to call, then do that. Did you use a travel agent? An experienced agent should be walking you thru this whole process!

Thanks for the quick answers. Have a few more questions...

Do I call DCL and ask to speak to concierge just like I would do at a hotel to make the change? Do I have to wait until my 180 day window?

If I didn't use a TA, I just call DCL to add transportation right?

As far as the rooms go, front of the ship all on different decks? What decks just so I can show my DD on the model. LOL She is beyond curious. Also, when do you get your cabin assignment if you don't get to pick? :goodvibes
Thanks!!

You can call DCL at any time...shoreside concierge might not be available till closer to your cruise, but the normal agents are. They can change your dining time--no problem. They can also add transportation for you.

I know concierge cabins on the Fantasy are on deck 11 and 12 forward; not sure if there are any on other floors. If you go to the DCL web site and do a search on deck plans, there is a virtual tour so you can see what is on each floor of the ship. Did you book GTY status? Otherwise, you get to pick your cabin at the time of booking. With GTY in a non-concierge cabin, it can be assigned at any time, usually before 30 days ahead of the cruise. I don't think I've ever heard of a GTY concierge booking....but I actually don't know everything!

Sounds like you might want to call them and ask about that when you move your dining time!

If I knew what GTY was, I bet I could answer your question...:confused3

Sorry... GTy stands for "guarantee." It has a number attached to it, like 5BGTY. If you booked this, you would be in at least a cat 5B or nicer cabin, but would not get to choose your cabin at the time of booking (a 5B is a regular cabin, not concierge). DCL does this when a category is sold out or nearly so but they want to keep a price point open--they know some people will cancel, and if no one in that category cancels, the person who booked the GTY would get moved to a nicer category without paying any more.

I've just never heard of a concierge booking without choosing a category, although with the greater number of cabins on the new ships, that might be possible.

When you need something from DCL, call them--you are paying a small fortune to cruise in concierge, and even before it is close to your cruise, the CMs should be giving you excellent service.

As a PP mentioned the concierge rooms are on the 11th and 12th deck on the Fantasy. If I had a choice I would always pick the 12th deck rooms as they are closer to the concierge lounge. Here is the number for the shoreside Concierge for you to call 1 (866) 784-1654. When you are 120 days out from your cruise date then you can book. Also you can call them ahead of time and give them a list of the requests you may have.

Here is a link for the deck plans of the ships so you can get an idea of where your room may be.

We look at the cruise site a lot scanning for open dates and price changes, and we have not seen a concierge GTY room, but on our last cruise the friend we were cruising with told us that she had seen it once before.

Do you have your confirmation? Your room number should be on it. The lower numbers are closest to the front of the ship.
