I Don't Know, I Don't Speak Wind!!

We stayed in a treehouse about 2 years ago. They are very nice and roomy. The only thing that I didn't like was that for the buses we had to get on a resort bus there then transfer to a park bus over at Saratoga and do the same thing back. It made it hard when we had a sleeping child. Other than that we liked them and want to stay there again. More likely for one of our longer trips like Christmas or Spring Break.

Old Key West to me is a nice resort, but it's not our top choice since we live in South Florida and it reminds us to much of home. I love looking at all of your pictures. It makes me feel like I'm threre. :)

Yes, I lived in Florida for about 4 years when I was a young teenager. My dad was in the Air Force and was stationed at MacDill, in St. Pete. We had an awesome church there, and it is where I became a Christian, so it is very special to me. I had a cousin who went to college in Miami, and we traveled to see her there. We also went to St. Augustine, another base up in the Panhandle, beaches on the Atlantic Coast, U of F in Gainesville, etc. Lots of fun! I think that's why I am so fond of palm trees - because they bring back so many good memories.

I had my youngest at Mcdill AFB back in 97. We loved living in Clearwater FL. We also lived in Jacksonville. Hubby only has 8 years left in the Coast Guard then he hits 30 and we plan on retiring down in Fl.

I love the Key west things... I hope we stay there soon. I put it off because I know the extra space/size will be perfect as my kids get bigger. The boats in that area are so fun, I think that is why POR will always have my heart!

I am green with envy at the backstage time on Splash. For sure my favorite ride, I would love to be able to see the behind the scenes. Doug and Hannah walked off it once, when I was pregnant with Luke and not riding it!

Um I have an 18 year old boy who might still have stuffed animals in his room.
Have not looked to see if he is still sleeping with him but last I looked one was on the bed and a couple in the bookshelf.

When he is ready he will pack them up. ::yes::

I am super excited because I have the honor of staying there next week!!! :cool1:

Awesome! You can share even more OKW pictures with its fans. :cool1:

How is Chris, by the way? Any upcoming Disney trips with you for him? Tell him I said hello!

Yes, the bus service is what people talk about when it comes to the treehouses, and that would be a hassle. I would want to stay there when I didn't really have a need to be at the parks, but rather when I could just have some relaxing/chilling out with family time.

One of the great things about the WDW resorts - a theme for every taste! :thumbsup2 If you want to go SW, you have Coronado Springs. If you are feeling tropical, there are several. If you want to hang out where the buffalo roam, hit up Wilderness Lodge. Whatever is not your norm at home can be yours for a trip. Gotta love that! :)

Cool. I was at the base hospital twice for 'repairs' - once with food poisoning and once with a broken finger. A couple of the guys I went to church with down there ended up in the Coast Guard. They are not in Florida any more.

In what area of Florida do you want to retire?

Good to see you here, Laura!

I bet your kids will like the Community Hall. They have all kinds of activities going on there. It reminds me a lot of the community center I used to go to in St. Pete. Probably another reason I am fond of this resort.

Isn't it fun how people like us 'geek out' at something like walking off a Disney ride? Most people probably were just thinking it was taking up their park time. ;) We got Fastpasses for another ride, but since that was my last night, I passed ours on to Anita and Marc. They ended up taking Brooklynn with them the next evening, since she still had a day left. I don't know if they had the need to use the Fastpasses or not, though.

Brooklynn wanted to go over to the check-in desk and get a balloon.

She has fond memories of getting an awesome purple dog there once. :goodvibes This time, she chose a butterfly.

Cool floor decor.

IMG_2273.jpg

In the small, quaint lobby. I would like shelves like that in my den. :thumbsup2

IMG_2274.jpg

I would also like that striped chair, only as a couch...

IMG_2275.jpg

and I wouldn't say no to that clean, shiny floor!!!

IMG_2277.jpg

Then we headed outside.

IMG_2279.jpg

Going toward the pool area.
You will pass Goods to Go, a counter service walk-up, an arcade room, and Community Hall.

IMG_2280.jpg

IMG_2281.jpg

IMG_2282.jpg

There were pool games going on.

IMG_2283.jpg

There are fun photo ops here.

IMG_2284.jpg

There is a bike/boat rental place.

IMG_2286.jpg

We wanted to go to Community Hall.

OKW looks like such a pretty, vacation-y resort! I'd love to visit there some day!

It is vacationy. ::yes::
Unless you live in South Florida. :cool2:
I guess our S. Florida DIS friends might appreciate some place like Wilderness Lodge more, or maybe Saratoga Springs or Coronado Springs - places that give them an entirely different atmosphere.

I hope you get to go for a visit sometime. Maybe when you are heading to DTD sometime, you can catch the OKW bus from a park and then boat over to DTD after you see it. Or you can do DTD, boat over to OKW, and then catch a bus to a park.

Inside Community Hall.

Mickey is pointing out where we are.

IMG_2287.jpg

Brooklynn found the TV and settled in to watch for a few minutes.

IMG_2288.jpg

Did you notice the cool crate benches? I like those.

Art work by friends of OKW.

IMG_2289.jpg

Did you notice those cabinets? I like them, too. :rolleyes1

There are many craft things to choose from here. It's a fun place for kids to come and do something ordinary.

IMG_2290.jpg

Of all the things to choose from, Brooklynn chose to make...

IMG_2291.jpg

It cost me...

IMG_2292.jpg

IMG_2293.jpg

She chose a peace sign.

IMG_2294.jpg

IMG_2295.jpg

Castmember Michael was perfect for this job. He was friendly, and he walked Brooklynn through every step, letting her participate in the pressing rather than just watching him do it. (I think this would be an option as a place for me to work, too, should I ever work in WDW. Animal Kingdom would be my first choice, but I could be happy hanging out doing crafts with kids for a small paycheck.)

IMG_2297.jpg

IMG_2298.jpg

Button finished, we went back toward the front.

IMG_2299.jpg

IMG_2300.jpg

Brooklynn wanted a snack.
Big Girl wanted to order by herself.

IMG_2301.jpg

What she chose.

IMG_2302.jpg

She takes almost all the salt off, though. She likes just a hint of the salty flavor. Silly girl!

That's it for this morning. Have a Fantastic Friday, friends!

I think I'd just let Connor be in charge of his own 'breaking up' with his furry friends. ::yes:: It could be dangerous to do it any other way!

That's what I figured -- I know I would not be doing anything to Baseball Bear -- that bear still travels with us on vacations.

Um I have an 18 year old boy who might still have stuffed animals in his room.
Have not looked to see if he is still sleeping with him but last I looked one was on the bed and a couple in the bookshelf.

Well, he may not ever pack them up -- he is not big on cleaning or organizing. LOL!

I am super excited because I have the honor of staying there next week!!! :cool1:

FUN! I can't wait to hear all about it, Pat!

MeMom, more lovely pictures! My kids would love all of Community Hall's crafts and the balloon animals. I bet Brooklyn had an absolute blast making her button and ordering her pretzel.

You know I love this OKW update!! :goodvibes

I miss it there so much. I am going to have to stop there and get some of the things you showed us on your shopping trip!

I got a few boxes of those Mickey heads silverware at my bridal shower! :cool2:

What a fun tour of OKW! You know we never made it into Community Hall during our two night stay there! We'll be back!

My trips need to get longer to do all the fun things - Guess I'm going to have to fly to get more days!

I love the button she chose. And what a fun, cheap little souvenir! :)

Brooklynn is a girl after my own heart. I remove most of the salt on the pretzel too. ;)

A kid could stay busy in that place for days! There were all those craft choices to do, and there's biking, tennis, ping pong, swimming, and boating. Plus, being so close to DTD, this would be a good resort to go to even if you were not able or wanting to go too any of the parks.

I think I send you a phone picture every time I visit. :goodvibes

Good for you on getting the silverware. Great gift! They had it on Disney Shopping at one point, and it was even on sale, I think. I was tempted. ::yes::

Yes, long trips are so awesome! I was so happy to have 13 days on the summer trip! :dance3:

I'm sure your girls could have some fun doing crafts there. Brooklynn would love hanging out with them there sometime. The big girls would be a big deal to her. :)

I love the button she chose. And what a fun, cheap little souvenir! :)

Brooklynn is a girl after my own heart. I remove most of the salt on the pretzel too. ;)

She chose just a regular peace sign, as best I recall. She enjoyed coloring it and watching the process of it turn into a button. And for one dollar, it was a fun activity. :thumbsup2

Another salt-taker-offer-person?!?!? :crazy2: I love the salty ones!

I'm also with Brooklyn on removing almost all of the salt. DH thinks I'm crazy!

I agree with DH. I think I have more of a salt tooth than a sweet tooth. I like pretzels and chips to snack on more than cookies or candy bars.

But.....

I

still

like

ice cream

better than any other snack. ;)

What fun updates! It makes me homesick for OKW, it really is so very vacationy, I agree! Truly, I could live there I think. I'm sad, they didn't have that OKW women's shirt when we were there this summer, it might have come with me had it been there, it's adorable.

If I were ever to do an owners locker, that mickey head flatware would be perfect. Oh virtual shopping is so much fun!

YAY for balloon butterflies and buttons, what a fun fun outing!

You think OKW has a lot for kids.. just wait to Vero. I think OKW is so similar to Vero, layout I know but even the vibe and pool. I know we will enjoy OKW since we are huge Vero fans. Have a great weekend... I was ready after three days back with kids. How many days till summer:cool1:
