When we were there in early Feb a couple years ago there were lots of cheerleaders. I guess they weren't part of a "convention" but they were part of a large group. Not sure if that's what the OP meant or not. They didn't bother us at all, but then they were staying across the lake from us. We could hear them cheering when we went to the food court for breakfast or to fill our mugs before heading to the bus stop. If we were staying in a building next to them it would probably have been annoying. There were tons of them in the pool too, but we didn't have any issues there either. All the girls we encountered were polite and friendly.
We were in Martinique. I think they were in Aruba, or somewhere near there. They had a huge tent set up in the parking area behind the buildings for registration and stuff, I think.
