13 days out and still no stateroom assignment

I booked VGT. I know from reading other threads most people get their assignment by 13 days out. I know I will get a room but I am anxious to look up what room I get. Has anyone not a cabin this close to sailing???

We are anxiously waiting for our room assignment for Jan 13th also. We are doing a back to back cruise and hoping for the same room.

Add me to that list. I just called DCL and was told that we might not get our assignment until embarkation. :(. She said that since we haven't gotten a room yet, we probably won't until we are at the port. I may have to drop out of the FE for our cruise.

Ugh...hate that for you all. We sail January 27 so I'm not looking for a cabin assignment yet but certainly hoping we have it in a few weeks. We're meeting up with friends who have a cabin (booked early) and we're linked with them. Won't break our cruise if we're not near them, but I'm interested to know if we'll be close by...and frankly, excited to see what we get!!

I've been there :scared1:

I'm not sure if this make you feel better or worse but for our 8/15 Dream sailing with an OGT we finally got our cabin assignment 6 days out in the evening.

Hang in there and have a great time!:goodvibes

Usually the person organizing the FE has a plan for this since this is a common situation. No need to drop out of the FE especially if you already have the stuff. Normally the person who organized the FE makes update on their stateroom door via post it notes or on a white board. Or the other thing that is done is there is a meet the first day and the people on your meet thread should know that you have no assignment yet. At the meet your stateroom will get updated.

I remember the panic well! ::yes:: Hi Heather!!

:wave2: Yes, my dear, you hung in there with me til the end! :lmao: Check your PM and please let me know which Spring Break 2014 cruise you are on! ;)

OP: I must have logged into my account and refreshed 50 times a day so when I did it that last magical time I screamed! I have a correction, however, I remembered after posting our cabin assignment was done around 11ish am, not in the evening.

I'm on the January 12 Sailing (9 days out) and still no room number. It's driving me crazy but keeping me really excited!
I'm kind of hoping we don't get an assignment until the port. Glutton for punishment, I suppose.
The whole cruise was booked on a whim (less than a month before sailing) and it is meant to be a "leave your cares at home" vacation, so I'm honestly completely not concerned about what room we get.

May I just ask how in the world they could not assign you a stateroom at the time of booking :confused3 I'm sure the answer is very obvious, but it's lost on me.

Do you just know your Category at the time of booking, or what? I was given a stateroom number at the time it was reserved. I didn't realize there may be situations where you wouldn't know.

It depends on how you book--a regular booking that is not GTY status allows you to choose a cabin at the time of the booking. A GTY booking means that you will have at least the category you chose or nicer, but will not get to choose a cabin. An IGT/OGT/VGT means that you will get an inside, oceanview, or verandah cabin but have NO choice in category or cabin location. WIth this type of booking, you are getting a very discounted rate in exchange for not choosing your cabin and accepting some other restrictions.

And....with a *GT booking, you indeed may not see your stateroom number till you check in. As to FEs, doesn't your group have a "meet" shortly after boarding? Most groups do in order to finalize all cabin numbers--people may have had pixie dust upgrades, purchased upgrades at the port, etc. There needs to be a way for your group to touch base on room numbers as many do change.

I headed up the FE for my group and this happened to a few members. I kept my cell phone on until we left Port Canaveral and checked our meet thread frequently for updates. Sure enough, the folks that didn't have staterooms prior to sailing posted updates to the thread with their stateroom numbers. To inform others in my group, I just wrote the updates on my stateroom door (for those that may not have smart phones). You could also communicate the stateroom numbers at your cruise meet if you are having one.

Ohh thank you so much for clearing that up for me! Cruise newbie here :)

Some people changed cabins the first night also ( upgraded to concierge ) after we sailed so they just sent group messages on the wave phone.
