Add me to that list. I just called DCL and was told that we might not get our assignment until embarkation. . She said that since we haven't gotten a room yet, we probably won't until we are at the port. I may have to drop out of the FE for our cruise.
I've been there
I'm not sure if this make you feel better or worse but for our 8/15 Dream sailing with an OGT we finally got our cabin assignment 6 days out in the evening.
Hang in there and have a great time!
Heather
I remember the panic well! Hi Heather!!
May I just ask how in the world they could not assign you a stateroom at the time of booking I'm sure the answer is very obvious, but it's lost on me.
Do you just know your Category at the time of booking, or what? I was given a stateroom number at the time it was reserved. I didn't realize there may be situations where you wouldn't know.

It depends on how you book--a regular booking that is not GTY status allows you to choose a cabin at the time of the booking. A GTY booking means that you will have at least the category you chose or nicer, but will not get to choose a cabin. An IGT/OGT/VGT means that you will get an inside, oceanview, or verandah cabin but have NO choice in category or cabin location. WIth this type of booking, you are getting a very discounted rate in exchange for not choosing your cabin and accepting some other restrictions.
And....with a *GT booking, you indeed may not see your stateroom number till you check in. As to FEs, doesn't your group have a "meet" shortly after boarding? Most groups do in order to finalize all cabin numbers--people may have had pixie dust upgrades, purchased upgrades at the port, etc. There needs to be a way for your group to touch base on room numbers as many do change.
