We decided to arrive a day earlier but could not get an extra night at Pop Century. So, right now we are staying at Wyndham LBV in downtown disney for first night and next 3 nights at Pop Century.

Will the hotel transfer my luggage from downtown disney hotel to Pop or do I need to return to the hotel and transfer the luggage myself?

I've only been to disney twice (once on property and once outside). Being we are going for a short time I want to take advantage of every minute we are there by pre-planning our days. This seems more like full time job..all this planning. LOL

thanks

Honestly, since two different companies are involved and it's your personal effects and such, I wouldn't TRUST them to make the transition; even if they agree they will.

There's SO MUCH to go wrong here, I'd simply move the bags yourself.

I'm assuming you won't have a car. I would suggest hopping in a cab (with your bags) and head for Pop. That way, you know your bags will be ready and waiting when your room becomes available.

Thanks!!! I think you are both right...I should just transfer the bags myself. I didn't dawn on me until i read your responses that I can just take a taxi early in the morning and transfer the bags myself to Pop. If the rooms is avail great...if not, then i'll have them hold them until we return from park for kids afternoon naps.

Any idea how much a taxi will run from MCO to downtown disney and downtown disney to Pop?

Thanks so much and Happy New Year!!!

Shouldn't exceed $20 at the VERY most.. I would think 12 to 15$ ..

Are you flying in? You can't do Magical Express unless you are staying at Disney property. If you can't get a room at Pop for your extra night, I would recommend doing another value for your first night (one of the All Stars or Art of Animation) and then having Disney transfer your luggage for you. You can utilize Magical Express that way and will save on cab/car fare from the airport to your hotel and also cab fare the next morning from your downtown Disney hotel to Pop.

Hope you have a wonderful time!

That is only for DTD to Pop. From MCO to DTD is around $60 or so plus tip. If you hunt around, you might be able to find a good enough discount to do a one-way car rental that you can drop off at one of the DTD hotels for cheaper than a taxi.

Unfortunately I cannot get any availability at any of the value resorts for the first night (2/9/13). Only room avail is a suite at AofA (way more than what my budget is allowing). I've been checking multiple times daily to see if any become available. There is avail at the swan and dolphin but I don't think you can use Magical Express for them either. So for now I'm keeping my DTD hotel for the 1 night (I got a mystery deal for $60...it's at the Wyndham. Can't be too bad for one night...Our flight doesn't arrive tip 4:30pm anyway).

How are you getting to your hotel on arrival? Does Wyndham have a shuttle from MCO?

no shuttle that i know of. will have to suck it up and take a taxi..i think it's going to run about $50 (if i'm not mistaken).

For the Wyndham from the airport you'd need to take a cab, hire a car service or use the Mears shared shuttle (which will stop at multiple hotels). For a family, I'd probably suggest looking into a car service. Then a taxi to Pop Century.

What the heck is happening February 9th? I would keep checking. Even if you have to do a Mod for one night it still seems like it would be worth it. Does the Wyndham have a resort fee? Take that into account, too. You have to add up the transport from the airport to your hotel and then the transport from your hotel to Pop. And add a few bucks for inconvenience. LOL

Good luck.

Since you are getting in at that time you may want to consider staying at a cheap hotel by the airport that has a shuttle. My friend does this. He goes down the night before and takes the hotel shuttle to the LaQuinta at the airport. The rate is ususally under 50.00. Then in the morning he takes the shuttle back to the airport and gets on Magical Express. if you do this just call Disney to set up the Magical express and you will be all set. He has done this the past 2 years. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I have thought of doing a Mod but the rates are still a bit too high. I got a pretty good deal at Wyndham for $60 and there is a resort fee of $15. A mod resort is still well over $200.

I'm not sure what is going on that day or week other than there is something going on with a few MLS soccer teams. I know alot of schools have mid winter break as well...we don't (we're making our own break..lol).

The deal at Wyndham IS pretty good except that if you add up $60 for the room + $15 resort fee plus $60 for the cab fare there and another $20 for the cab to Pop Century, you're at $155. (Probably some tax added for Wyndham, too, right?) For $200 you can save yourself a whole lot of trouble and you're only talking about $45 more.

Otherwise, I'd consider something like joshiesdad suggested and stay cheaply near the airport using their hotel shuttles to/from the airport returning the following morning EARLY to the airport to hop on ME and be on your way to Pop.

Update:
Well, I kept checking the Walt Disney site, kayak, expedia, orbitz, etc last few days and it paid off. I was able to get a standard room at Art of Animation for all the dates I needed and at a pretty good rate too. Now I can stay in same hotel as relatives (easier with the kids) and use magical express both ways.

Woohoo!!!!

Now I just have to keep checking back for restaurant reservations.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!
